St. Louis Prospects Scout Day: Catchers Analysis

On Sunday, September 23, Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the St. Louis Prospects Scout Day at St. Louis University. Over thirty players from the Prospects program attended in the 2022-2019 class.
Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the catchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.
Catchers
Benjamin Davis C / 3B / De Smet Jesuit , MO / 2021Davis is a lean 6-foot-1 165-pound catcher in the 2021 Missouri class. Davis runs a 7.67 60 and 5.07 home to first. At the plate, Davis has a slightly open and athletic stance. He has a slow and controlled load and stays inside the ball well going gap to gap and making solid contact consistently. Behind the plate, Davis sets up low with a quick transfer, getting his throws up to 69 mph and a pop time as low as 2.26. |
Nicholas Hemken C / RHP / Edwardsville, IL / 2020Hemken is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Illinois' 2020 class. He ran a 7.29 60 and a 4.75 home to first. He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, has a balanced stance, minimal load, shot stride, pre pitch rhythm in hands, level path with gap to gap line drives. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.00 and 2.13-seconds, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, staggered set up, clean exchange with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws, some with carry. |
