Several ranked prospects pick their schools

Several ranked Illinois prospects have made their college choices recently.
Drew Curtis, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound OF/1B from Edwardsville HS, has committed to St. Louis University. Curtis, who’s ranked No. 37 in Illinois’ Class of 2013, tallied 12 doubles, 6 homers and 36 RBI as a junior last spring. He was also clocked at 87 mph from the outfield and ran a 7.23 60 at a PBR event.
St. Louis University also landed Glenbard East RHP Nick Vichio. The right-hander is currently ranked No. 111 in Illinois.
Robert Kametas, a hard-throwing RHP from Oak Lawn HS, has committed to St. Joseph’s College. Kametas, who’s ranked No. 42 in Illinois, features a fastball in the 85-89 range, in addition to a sharp slider and changeup.
Matt Mikolajczak, a 6-foot-3 LHP from Lincoln-Way Central HS, has committed to Ohio University. A top-level student, Mikolajczak has been earning varsity wins since his freshman year at LWC.
Heartland CC landed a pair of ranked prospects. Matt Miller, a RHP/INF from Aurora Central Catholic HS, is currently ranked No. 81 in Illinois. Blake Graham, a speedy OF from Edwardsville HS, also committed to Heartland. Graham, who’s ranked No. 144 in Illinois, ran a 6.77 at a PBR event.
