Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the STL Force Scout Day on January 25 at the STL Force training facility, Champions Village, in Fenton, MO. Fourty players attended the event, with the majority of players in the 2023 and 2024 classes.

Today, we will take a look at the outfielders from the day, many from a talented 2024 class.  Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. Players listed below are in alphabetical order.

Outfielders

Adam Ackerburg OF / OF / Clayton , MO / 2021 Ackerburg is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.96 home to first and had an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts tall, quick leg lift with in line stride, minimal load, finishes with one hand, middle of the field approach.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfer with momentum in footwork after the catch, 75 mph positional velocity.

Nicholas Alagna OF / SS / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2024 Alagna is a 5-foot-3 100-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 5.03 home to first and had a 68 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, shifts weight slightly to back leg to load with toe tap on front toe, short in line stride, quiet hands, repeats swing, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, quick and athletic actions, quick transfer and throw, plays through the ball, loose over the top arm slot, arm works, more in tank as he continues to grow.

Logen Deckard LHP / OF / Northwest, MO / 2023 Deckard is a 6-foot 140-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2023 class.  He ran a 4.65 home to first and had a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall stance, slightly open, minimal load, hands walk away from stride, attacks ball, slight lift to bat path, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, comes from an over the top release, aggressive through the ball with footwork, exchange on time with momentum created from feet, 70 mph positional velocity.

Chase DeQuasie SS / RHP / Columbia, IL / 2024 DeQuasie is a long and slender 5-foot-6 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2024 class. He ran a 4.89 home to first and had a 68 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, subtle weight shift in lower half, in line stride, gap to gap approach, has range in swing, hands control the barrel, loose hands,   In the outfield, attacks ball with quick feet, high three quarters arm slot, footwork creates momentum through the catch, clean transfer, arm works, 70 mph positional velocity.

Tommy Gibbar OF / 3B / Seckman, MO / 2024 Gibbar is a 5-foot-7 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.64 home to first and had a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide base, minimal stride, gathers with weight shift in back side, bat path has some lift, middle to pull side approach.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, creates momentum with a crow hop after the catch, clean transfer, 70 mph positional velocity.

Bryce Hall OF / RHP / Herculaneum, MO / 2021 Hall is a strong 6-foot-1 210-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.66 home to first and had a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts open, quick shoulder rotation with hand load, in line stride, quick bat speed, level bat plan, mostly middle to pull side line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with quick exchange, 70 mph positional velocity.

Kade Heinemeier RHP / OF / Seckman, MO / 2024 Heinemeier is a 5-foot-5 135-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.77 home to first and had a 69 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in back leg, minimal load with weight and hands, toe tap to in line stride, worked the ball to the middle of the field during hitting evals.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, quick transfer with fluid footworks, take route behind the ball and through the exchange, 74 mph positional velocity.

Chase Leathers OF / LHP / Mehlville , MO / 2024 Leathers is a 5-foot-7 120-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.70 home to first and had a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, slightly open to start, no wasted movement in hands to load, quick toe tap with in line stride, loose and quick hands, level path, some length, one handed finish, used the middle of the field.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, over the top arm slot, loose arm action, clean transfer with smooth actions, creates momentum with footwork through the catch, 70 mph positional velocity, projectable build and arm action would suggest increases down the road.

Dean Lyon SS / 2B / Columbia , IL / 2024 Lyon is a 5-foot5 112-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2024 class. He ran a 4.57 home to first and had a 68 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, reverse stride to in line stride, quiet hands, gap to gap approach, level path.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, clean transfer and throw, fluid footwork to the ball and through the catch, 68 mph positional velocity.

Aiden Masidonski LHP / 1B / Columbia , IL / 2024 Masidonski is a lean 5-foot-11 137-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2024 class. He ran a 4.69 home to first and had a 65 mph exit velocity. In the outfield, balanced set up, loads with lower half, in line stride, worked inside of ball at times, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, works through the ball with fluid footwork and clean exchange, plays behind and through the ball, 75 mph positional velocity, more to come as he fill out physically.

Jake Mcghee 1B / LHP / CBC, MO / 2024 McGhee is a 5-foot-5 135-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.34 home to first and had an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, creates pre-swing rhythm in hands, loads with hands walking away from stride, level path, feel for the barrel, showed the ability to hit to all fields with barrel control, loose and accelerated hands, has range in swing.  In the outfield, aggressive to ball, high crow hop during exchange, athletic, works behind and through the ball with clean transfer, over the top arm slot, arm works, 78 mph positional velocity.

Brysen Nepute OF / LHP / CBC, MO / 2023 Nepute is a physically mature 5-foot-10 182-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2023 class. He ran a 4.14 home to first and had a 91 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall and thin stance, slight weight shift to back side, minimal hand movement to load, quick hands with quick bat speed, bat path has lift to plane, stays balanced on strong lower half, middle to pull side contact with power.  In the outfield, combination of athletic and powerful, attacks ball, quick transfer and throw, high three quarters arm slot, loose and quick arm action, plays through the ball, 90 mph positional velocity.  We be a highly followed player in his class.

Derrick Pitts OF / 3B / CBC, MO / 2024 Pitts is a 5-foot-6 135-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class.  He ran a 4.88 home to first and had a 68 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable, square stance in lower half with pre-pitch rhythm, small and controlled load, in line stride, stays on top of lower half with balance, short the ball with hands, works gap to gap. In the outfield, short over the top arm slot, small crow hop during exchange, creates momentum with footwork, good direction, 74 mph positional velocity.

Lucas Riebeling SS / RHP / Columbia , IL / 2024 Riebeling is a 5-foot-4 110-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2024 class. He ran a 4.87 home to first and had a 61 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, starts in back leg, minimal load in lower half, some hand load, in line stride, level swing, produced mostly middle of the field line drives.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, maintains momentum from footwork through the transfer, works behind the ball, clean exchange, 68 mph positional velocity.

Drew Sexton 2B / 3B / Parkway West, MO / 2024 Sexton is a 5-foot-4 113-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.53 home to first and had a 70 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, toe tap to in line stride, minimal hand movement, level path, stays under control, loose hands with some feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, fluid actions with clean exchanges, creates good direction from footwork through the catch, 65 mph positional velocity.

Jacob Schumacher 2B / SS / Eureka, MO / 2021 Schumacher is a lone and lean 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.55 home to first and had a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide base, loads with a toe tap, in line stride, minimal hand movement, wide base, strong hands, level path to the zone, gap to gap approach, flashed pull side power.  In the outfield, three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball, crow hop during exchange, works behind and through the ball, 73 mph positional velocity.

Max Spillman LHP / 1B / Hillsboro R3, MO / 2024 Spillman is a 5-foot-6 148-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2024 class. He ran a 4.75 home to first and had a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in athletic position with weight in back leg, minimal load, quiet hands, in line stride, no wasted movement, hands manage he barrel, level swing, short to contact working inside the ball, middle fo the field line drives. In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, quick to ball, gains momentum to throw after the catch with clean transfer, 67 mph positional velocity.

Jonathan ( J.T. ) Walters OF / 2B / Seckman, MO / 2021 Walters is a strong 5-foot-10 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.26 home to first and had a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and open set up, lands slightly closed at times, short the ball with hands, fast bat speed, works inside the ball, level path to extension, ball jumps off bat, gap to gap approach, pull side power.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, clean transfer and throw, works behind the ball with controlled actions during exchange and throw, 75 mph positional velocity.

Zachary Walters 1B / 3B / Seckman, MO / 2024 Walters is a 5-foot-9 178-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class.  He ran a 4.67 home to first and had an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall and open stance, gathers weight in back leg, in line stride, minimal hand load, loose hands and level path, uses both gaps with occasional pop to pull side.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, fluid actions, maintains momentum in footwork through the catch and during the transfer, 75 mph positional velocity.

Drew Xenakis OF / 1B / Eureka, MO / 2021 Xenakis is a strong 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.59 home to first and an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load with weight shift, free and loose hands, level bat plane, stays under control, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals, repeats.  In the outfield, fluid footwork to the ball, cleans transfer and throw, crow hop during exchange, short over the top release, 66 mph positional velocity.

Bret Yarger SS / RHP / Rolla , MO / 2024 Yarger is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. He ran a 4.12 home to first and had an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall and square position, slight load with lower half, accelerates to the ball, squared the ball up consistently gap to gap during hitting evals, stays balanced, repeats timing.  In the outfield, smooth actions, works through the ball with momentum from feet, transfer and throw on time with footwork, clean exchange with easy over the top arm action, 78 mph positional velocity.
