In the last week several Class of 2013 prospects have picked their schools. A look at all the recent commitments:
Anthony Drago, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound 1B/C from Lake Zurich HS, has committed to the University of Illinois. Drago is the top left-handed power bat in the state. He also is a Midwest Future Games alum from last August.
Southern Illinois University landed two more prospects when it received commitments from 6-foot-5 RHP Jack Granath (Rockton Hononegah HS) and MIF Will Farmer.
SS Tyler Johnson, an athletic MIF from Harlan HS, has committed to Texas Southern University. Johnson is one of the top-ranked middle infielders in Illinois’ Class of 2013.
SIU-Edwardsville landed a pair of pitching prospects when RHP Brendan Miller (Plainfield North HS) and RHP Evan Martens (Lockport HS) gave their commitments.
Purdue University secured commitments from two top-level outfielders: Jeff Evak (Neuqua Valley HS) and Ted Snidanko (Lockport HS). Evak is one of the premier athletes in the Class of 2013 and Snidanko is an extremely projectable 6-foot-3 athlete.
The Class of 2013 lacks depth in the middle infield, but Indiana University landed one of the best when it received a commitment from SS Austin Cangelosi from Sandburg HS.
Jake Godfrey, who’s ranked No. 3 in Illinois’ Class of 2014, verbally committed to Notre Dame. Godfrey recently showed extremely well at the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games, where he showcased an 88-91 mph fastball to go along with a sharp slider.
In other 2014 news, Bobby Wenthe, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound OF from Teutopolis HS, has committed to Eastern Illinois.
