Recruiting Roundup: Who's Heading Where?

Miles Simington, OF, Normal Community, 2017
Polk State (FL)

Miles Simington8.16.16 - Currently ranked No. 32 in the Illinois 2017 class. Strong framed 5-foot-9, 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a short, quick arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Athletic actions, playing thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange and fluid footwork. At the plate hits from an open stance with a short stride and good balance. Gap to gap hitter with a short, uphill swing path, stays compact. Fluid rhythm with a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 94 mph exit velocity from a tee. One of the top uncommitted prospects in the Illinois 2017 class.

Alec Hartsell, LHP, Joliet Catholic, 2017
Heartland CC

Alec Hartsell2/14/16 - 6-foot-3, 215-pound left-handed pitcher, solid build, sturdy lower half. Tall and fall type delivery, works rotationally, follows head path to third base side. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot, regular effort. Fastball showed arm side run up in the zone, sat 81-82 mph consistently. Curveball has 1/7 shape, flashed late hard action with depth, above average feel, worked even better from the stretch, 69-71 mph, well above average offering. Straight change flashed occasional fade, 73-76 mph.

Scott Garrow, OF, Lyons, 2017
St. Joseph (IN)

Scott Garrow6.14.16 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound, lanky, athletic, prospect. Ran the top laser-timed 60 of the event, a 6.79. Defensively, showed well in the outfield. Attacked the baseball and read hops well. Fluid footwork, consistent clean exchanges, played through the baseball. Over-the-top arm slot, short, quick arm action, accurate throws clocked at 75 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, uphill bat path, extension through the hitting zone. Slightly open stance, balanced, smooth rhythmic load and short stride. 87 mph exit velocity off of a tee.

Nick Wolski, 3B, Crystal Lake South, 2017
Missouri-St. Louis

Nick Wolski1.31.16 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a long stride and good balance. Loose, athletic swing with fluid rhythm. Gap to gap hitter with a long swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.66. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm angle. Plays thru the ball with slower actions and a clean exchange. Threw 79 mph from the outfield.

Michael Wojcik, SS, Richmond Burton, 2017
UW-Oshkosh

Michael Wojcik2/28/16 - 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop with a strong frame. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws showed carry across the infield at 83 mph. Athletic actions playing thru the ball with soft hands. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Line drive hitter with a short swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.31.

 

Tim Hasto, SS, St. Charles North, 2017
UW-Oshkosh

Tim Hasto2.15.16 - 5-foot-10, 165-pound, strong build, right-handed hitting infielder. Offensively, flashed bat speed, aggressive swings and fluid rhythm. Gap-to-gap approach and a long, uphill bat path. Balanced, open setup, smooth pre-pitch load and leg-lift timing trigger; 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, throws flashed some carry on the infield; throws clocked at 81 mph. Soft hands, fields the ball athletically and body control. 7.65 runner in the 60, laser-timed.
