Alex Marquardt, RHP/OF, Monticello HS, 2018
North Central College
8.8.17 - 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a short stride and easy effort. Closed landing working slightly across body. Fastball has downhill tilt working down in the zone at 78-80 topping out at 81 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with depth at 69-72 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape with sharp, short breaking action at 72 mph.
Ben Maxey, LHP, North Boone HS, 2018
McHenry County JC (IL)
8.20.17 - 6-foot-3, 165-pound lanky left-handed pitcher. Works from a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Works exclusively out of the stretch. Tall and fall delivery, high leg kick with a closed landing. Fastball has running action at 81-83 mph, consistently works up in the zone. Slider has tight sweeping action with sharp break at 72-76 mph. Curveball sat 66-69 mph. High ceiling with a plus frame, will improve with better command.
Trevor Durand, OF/RHP, Mt. Zion HS, 2018
Milikin University
10.1.17 - 6-foot-2, 162-pound, lanky, athletic, two-way prospect. Defensively, short arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate with carry, 90 mph from the outfield. Plays through the ball with fluid footwork and clean exchanges. Offensively, balanced setup, leg kick timing trigger, present bat speed, uphill barrel path, gap-to-gap approach, 87 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.24 lasser-timed 60. On the mound, short arm action, quick arm speed, high ¾ arm slot. Tall and fall delivery, works towards third base, lands square, finishes athletically. Fastball, sat 82-84 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, near fastball arm speed, 64-67. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, fade action, 72-73.
Zac Styka, C, Mt. Carmel, 2018
Washington University (MO)
6.15.17 - 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a tall, open setup with a long, leg kick stride. Showed strength thru contact with 92 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.29. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Stand and throw with a slight hitch on the transfer. Popped 2.04-2.12 and threw 75 mph from the crouch.
Noah Valin, OF/LHP, Dekalb HS, 2018
St. Xavier (IL)
2.26.17 - 6-foot, 186-pound, athletic left-handed outfielder and pitcher. Defensively, works from a high ¾ arm slot with short arm action, kept throws around the bag. Plays through the ball, clean on exchanges. Clocked at 79 mph from the outfield. Offensively, balanced setup, short, toe tap stride, maintains balance throughout. Line drive hitter, good approach, level barrel path. Recorded an 82 mph exit velocity off a tee. Fastball, clocked at 76-77 mph. Curveball, 1/7 shape, late downward break, clocked at 68-71 mph. Changeup, thrown with fastball arm speed, clocked at 72-74 mph. Ran a 4.10 home to first.
Bobby Grimes, UTIL, Nazareth HS, 2018
Triton CC (IL)
10.8.17 - 6-foot-1, 165-pound catcher, lean athletic frame, trim waist, projects. Dynamic athlete, runs a 6.75 60, laser timed. Big arm strength, 81 mph out of the crouch, 83 mph across the diamond, short and loose, over the top slot, clean release, carries well. Pop times ranged 2.04-2.12, long exchange and footwork. Right-handed hitter, open stance, short stride, solid balance. Loose easy swing, repeats with bat speed, short path. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Zach Swearingen, INF, Romeoville HS, 2018
Earlham College (IN)
1.29.17 - 5-foot-10, 135-pound right-handed hitting SS/RHP. Offensively hits from a tall, slightly open stance. Short leg kick stride with average balance. Gap to gap hitter with fluid rhythm and a level swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.58 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws with carry across the infield throwing 79 mph across the infield. Plays thru the ball with quick footwork and soft hands. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a square landing. Fastball was straight at 74-75 topping out at 76 mph for strikes. Curveball has short, slurve action at 64-66 mph. Changeup was firm at 70-72 mph for strikes.
Brandon Cocco, 1B. Lockport HS, 2018
College of Lake County (IL)
10.8.17 - 6-foot-3, 245-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. Offensively hits from a balanced setup, toe tap, armbar load. Long, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.08. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Threw 75 mph across the infield.
