Prospect Identification Showcase: Event Preview
June 15, 2015
By Ryan Quigley
Illinois Scouting Director
The annual Prep Baseball Report’s Prospect Identification Showcase on Tuesday, June 16 at Plunkett Park in Elmhurst, IL is right around the corner and once again we are excited about the 75 prospects signed up.
Last year’s event saw the emergence of Mattoon’s Payton Hartbank, a left-handed hitting outfielder with a physical frame, who was named the Top Overall Prospect at the event, and shortly afterwards committed to Illinois State.
Several more 2015 prospects made impressions, such as Bolingbrook’s DeMarco Mong (McHenry County College), Plainfield South’s Marco Melgoza (Southeastern CC), Plainfield North’s Matt Vanek (St. Xavier), and Coal City’s DJ Budde (Trinity Christian) all eventually made collegiate commitments and entered the PBR Illinois 2015 overall rankings.
