Prep Baseball Report's PBR Winter Open- Quad Cities event took place on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. The event was held at Fielder's Choice in Milan, IL. The event featured prospects from the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 classes from Iowa and Illinois who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff.

Tony Barreca, C/OF, North Scott, 2018
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #12 ranked player in IA 2018 class. Barreca, currently uncommitted, solidified himself as one of the better 2018’s in the state. Showed good balance in the box with quick hands and consistent hard line drive contact to middle of field. Posted a blistering 3.86 home-to-first time and recorded a personal best 92 mph exit velocity off the tee. Has versatility in the field with ability to play in the outfield was well as catch. 86 mph arm strength with accuracy and carry to the target. Shows all-around ability behind the plate and recorded 1.89-1.94 pop times with 79 mph arm strength; consistently on the bag.
Bryone Dupart, 2B/C/OF, Harlan, 2018
6-foot, 185-pound switch hitting utility player with a strong frame. From the left side hits from a balanced, slightly open stance with a smooth load to the backside. Uphill swing path with good balance. From the right side hits from a balanced, square stance with an uphill swing path and strength thru contact. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.15 runner down the line. In the infield has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 73 mph across the diamond. Behind the plate has a long arm action from an over the top slot with quick footwork. Popped 2.01-2.11 and threw 73 mph from the crouch. Threw 75 mph from the outfield.
Matthew Flaherty, C/3B, Lake Zurich, 2020
5-foot-7, 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher. At the plate hits from a balanced, open stance with a short, linear stride. Uphill swing path. 75 mph exit velocity from a tee. 5.04 runner down the line. Defensively behind the plate has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Popped 2.25-2.44 and threw 71 mph from the crouch. Took drills in the infield throwing 68 mph across the diamond.
Anthony McIntire, C, Davenport North, 2019
5-foot-10, 210-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Raw prospect at catcher and at the plate. 4.65 home-to-first time with 85 mph exit velocity off the tee. Recorded pop times 2.44-2.8 and 67 mph arm strength lacking consistent accuracy to the bag.
Dalton Phillips, C/SS, Rushville Industry, 2017
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting C/SS with a lanky frame. At the plate hits from a tall, open stance with a long, leg kick stride. Uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. 3.86 runner down the line. Defensively behind the plate has short arm action from a side arm slot. Throws showed carry. Popped 2.11-2.19 and threw 74 mph from the crouch. In the infield showed a loose arm action from a low ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with solid footwork. Threw 81 mph across the infield.
