PBR Illinois Player of the Week: C/OF Connor Lindsey
April 13, 2022
Amongst a loaded field of performers, senior C/OF Connor Lindsey (O’Fallon Township; Washington University (MO)) stood out after one of the loudest week-long hot streaks we’ve seen this spring. Lindsey helped lead O’Fallon to a perfect 4-0 week, playing a pivotal role in the Panthers’ 70-run offensive onslaught.
On Tuesday, Lindsey paced O’Fallon in their 15-0 victory over Alton, slugging a double and triple out of the cleanup spot while driving in four runs, scoring three on his own. He followed that up with another terrific performance Thursday, finishing that game 4-for-5 with four more RBIs. Lindsey doubled twice and homered as the Panthers’ pounded out 18 total hits, defeating Alton 16-8.
Lindsey’s loudest performance came on Saturday against Gibault Catholic, where he absolutely exploded at the plate. He stepped up to the plate four times and slugged four extra-base hits, finishing the game with an absurd eight RBIs. Lindsey launched a grand slam in a full-count during his first at-bat and doubled a run home in the opportunity that followed. He doubled again in the top of the second inning and blasted a three-run shot to left field in his final at-bat, capping off his eye-popping day.
Lindsey capped off his week with four more RBIs in O’Fallon’s 14-3 win against Waterloo on Saturday afternoon. He brought three in on a home run to right field in the first inning and drove in another run on a sacrifice fly later in the game. In total, Lindsey finished his week 11-for-14 with five doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 20 RBIs. He also scored 10 runs, was hit by two pitches, and stole a base.
For his efforts, Lindsey has been named the PBR Illinois Player of the Week, for the week of Monday, April 4 through Sunday, April 10. We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within Friday's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
