PBR IL - Southeastern Illinois College Scout Day: Statistical Analysis

On Thursday, October 7th, the PBR Illinois scouting staff held the Southeastern Illinois College Scout Day at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois. All the prospects in attendance showcased their talents in front of our staff, including a handful of other scouts that attended.
Today, our scouting staff will begin to roll out all our prototypical post-event content pieces, starting with this statistical analysis. Below we’ll highlight players that put up numbers from a traditional standpoint, such as leaders in the 60-yard dash, max throwing velocities, and other data gathered from the day.
We’ll also roll out more analysis as the week rolls on, like a takeaways piece from the day and deeper data dives with the statistics collected from our technological partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion.
For now, take a look at which players put out noteworthy statistical outputs.
STAT STORY
+ UTL Ryan Kassel is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed hitter that showed impressive bat strength throughout batting practice. Kassel led the entire event in max exit velocity (100.34 mph) and peak batted distance (366 ft.). Defensively, Kassel took reps as an infielder and outfielder, leading the latter group in throwing velocity at an 89 mph high.
+ OF Eli Burkhart is a high level athlete hailing from Indiana on this SIC squad. Standing at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, Burkhart comfortably ran the day’s fastest 60-yard dash, clocking a 6.67 on our lasers.
+ From IMG Academy in Florida, freshman OF Liam Beausoleil made his mark on our stat sheet at last week’s workout. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Beausoleil had the day’s second-hardest hit ball at 96.37 mph and he also finished a few ticks behind the event lead in outfield throwing velocity, reaching back for an 87 mph high.
+ Former Illinois prep product C/RHP Bryant Byrd made an impression on the stat sheet in multiple areas throughout his workout. Listed at a sturdy 6-foot, 205-pounds, Byrd’s hardest hit ball in BP peaked at 94 mph and traveled at 355 ft., per TrackMan. He topped at 79 mph from the chute and averaged the day’s best pop times, consistently slotting in the 1.95-to-1.98 range. Byrd later hopped on the mound and bumped an 88 mph max on his fastball to lead the entire group, while sitting at 86-88 mph in his ‘pen.
+ Freshman RHP Brennyn Abendroth popped as another follow arm from this event. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound athlete had a max fastball of 87 mph, one tick behind the event lead, and he sat exclusively at 86-87 mph throughout his pen.
