The PBR Fall Championships are underway at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. 40 travel teams from across the Midwest are competing in two divisions, an Upperclass and Underclass with more than 100 scouts and college recruiters in attendance. There will be continuous scout blogs each day covering the Upperclass and Underclass divisions.

CHICAGO SCOUTS ASSOCIATION

Adam Dowler, LHP, Oswego East, IL (2021)
6-foot-3, 200-pound, extra-large, well-proportioned, high-ceiling left-handed pitcher. Stretch-only delivery, works slightly across his body. Arm works short, clean and quick from a high ¾ slot. Fastball, mostly straight action, late run at times, sat 79-82 mph, touched 83 once. Breaking ball was his go-to secondary pitch; 2/8 shape, late bite at times, 70 mph. High-follow 2021 arm.

Tylor Phommachanhom, RHP, Plainfield South, IL (2021)
5-foot-9, 140-pound, wiry, right-handed pitcher. Extremely effective out of the bullpen. Long, clean arm action from a high ¾ slot. Commanded the zone, worked his fastball to both sides of the plate, arm-side-run at times, 77-78 mph. Mixed in a breaking ball at 64 mph.

Joey Spence, C, West Bend East, WI (2021)
5-foot-9, 185-pound, compact, strong-bodied, left-handed hitter. DH’d in the second game on Saturday. Offensively, confident look in the box, ready to hit when he steps in. Simple, compact aggressive swing, hunts the fastball. Natural lift in swing, quick, strong hands and ball jumps off the bat at times. Hit a line-drive single to center field in his first at-bat and later scored. In his second at-bat, hit a sharp line-drive double into the right-center field gap, scoring two runs. One of the top 2021 hitters in the state of Wisconsin.

Jason Buhl, LHP, Winnebago, IL, (2021)
6-foot-3, 170-pound left-handed pitcher, lean upside frame. Smooth delivery with balance, landed open toe and showed ability to make in game adjustments, solid front side. Arm is loose and easy, high ¾ slot. Fastball played mostly to armside, misses tended to be up and arm side, projects to have above average control, sat 79-81 mph, touched 82 mph, played up with late finish, swing and miss. Changeup is best secondary pitch, showed confidence and went to it in any count as well as doubling up, 73-74 mph with plus sinking action at times. Curveball is behind the changeup, 66-67 mph, 1/7 plane.
