No. 2 St. Laurence 8, Loyola 1
St. Laurence (19-6; 12-2) avenged its loss to Loyola (10-17; 6-8) from Saturday with a resounding victory in Glenview on Monday. Viking junior Purdue-recruit Mike Kornacker led the way. Kornacker homered, singled and drove home four Viking runs while junior 2B Nate Tholl had two singles scored three runs and drove home another Viking run. Junior RHP Brad Wood (5-1) allowed a run and four hits in his solid six-inning stint to pick up the win.
St. Laurence will open a two-game set today at Viking Field, with Brother Rice at 4:30. The two rivals will meet in Mount Greenwood at 11 on Saturday morning. In 2012, the Crusaders broke the hearts of the Vikings defeating them in the last CCL-Blue game, costing them a share of the CCL-Blue championship with Providence.
No. 6 Mount Carmel 16, Providence 6
Mt. Carmel (23-5; 12-2) scored 14 runs in the first three innings to go on to throttle Providence in five innings at Haggerty Field on Monday. Caravan C BJ Faulkner and senior Joe Kennedy hammered baseballs that left the premises at Haggerty. Kennedy and Faulkner both finished with two hits. Kennedy plated three runs and Faulkner two to leads the Caravan onslaught. Sophomore Malik Carpenter had a double and three RBI while University of Oregon SS Jerry Houston chipped in with three hits and two RBI. Junior LHP Marko Boricich (6-1) went the distance for MC to pick up the win.
Mount Carmel sits atop the CCL-Blue with St. Laurence as the Caravan close out CCL Blue play with a huge two-game set, beginning today at St. Rita at 4:30. The two clubs will meet at Haggerty at 11 on Saturday morning.
Brother Rice 7, No. 5 St. Rita 3
Brother Rice (15-8; 8-5) continued to play “Giant-Killer” for Crusader head coach John McCarthy on Monday, stunning fifth-ranked St. Rita (24-5; 11-3). Last Friday the Crusaders gave previously unbeaten No.1 L-W North its first loss of the season. Junior Kevin Biondic, who fired a three-hitter at L-W North, led the Crusaders with his bat against the Mustangs. Biondic had three singles and drove home two runs while junior RHP Brian Musielak improved to 6-1 on the season with a complete-game performance against the hard-hitting Mustangs. Musielak allowed three runs and scattered eight hits with four strikeouts. the talented junior did not walk a batter.

No.11 Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 12, Pleasant Plains 1
SHG (17-4) destroyed Pleasant Plains (15-8-1) in five-innings on Monday, behind a three-hit, five RBI game from red-hot Steve Sartore. Corey Mason added a pair of doubles and two RBI for the Cyclones. RHP Connor Creasy fired a two-hitter at the Cardinals with five strikeouts. The Cyclones (17-4; 9-3 CS8) will begin their two-game Springfield City Series championship two-game set with city-rival Springfield (13-11; 9-3 CS8) today at beautiful Robin Roberts Stadium at Lanphier Park at 4:15. The two clubs will meet again at Robin Roberts at 6:30 on Wednesday.
No. 12 Teutopolis 4, Altamont 0
Teutopolis (20-3) hit the 20-win plateau behind a one-hit shutout from Wooden Shoe RHP Ryan Ruholl. Ruholl had eight puch-outs with a pair of walks. Mike Gillespie doubled and drove home a run to give Ruholl the only run he would need.
No. 17 Carmel 2, McHenry 1
The ESCC leaders from Carmel (17-4) scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally past McHenry on Monday. Matt Ryan and Matt Skarzynski both singled and plated a run for the Corsairs. Junior RHP Quentin Sefcik fired a five-hitter at the Warriors with five strikeouts.
Quincy Notre Dame 3, No. 22 Chatham Glenwood 0
Quincy Notre Dame (14-2) blanked Chatham Glenwood (15-5) behind a two-hit shutout from raider starting and winning pitcher Justin Tallman (4-2). Tillman fanned five Titans and did not walk a batter. Raider Matt Doane’s clutch two-out two RBI single in the top of the sixth iced the victory for QND.
Southwest Suburban Blue
No. 15 Lockport 8, Bolingbrook 3
Lockport (18-6; 7-3) blasted Bolingbrook behind red-hot senior Ron Sessler. Sessler hammered a two-run bomb for the Porters and finished up with two hits and three RBI. SIU-Edwardsville-bound RHP Evan Martens (6-0) fired five shutout innings at the Raiders with seven strikeouts.
Joliet West 6, Lincoln Way Central 3
Joliet West (15-7; 7-3) exploded for five runs in the fifth to blow by Lincoln-Way Central (12-9; 6-4) and stay tied atop the SWSC standings with No. 15 Lockport. The Porters and Tigers shared the SWSC crown in 2012. Kyle Chavez had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two RBI to lead the Tiger attack. Alex Lakatos singled and plated a pair of runs for West and Kevin Ganzer and Anthony Dinardo each hit safely and had an RBI. Ganzer tripled home his run for West. RHP Jake Herron (6-1) picked up the win while Quinn Ahern fired two scoreless innings in relief at the Knights to nail down the save.
No. 18 Sandburg 11, Joliet Central 1
Sandburg (17-5; 6-4) pounded Joliet Central in six innings on Monday to stay in the SWSC race. The Eagles exploded for seven runs in the fifth and then scored four more in the sixth to end the proceedings in Orland Park. Alec Martinez led the Eagle attack with two hits and two RBI. Dan Santiago, Dan Cronin and Justin Joy all singled and plated a pair of runs for the Eagles. Junior RHP Matthias Dietz (4-2) allowed an unearned run and three hits in five innings to pick up the win on the mound for Sandburg.
Homewood-Flossmoor 6, No. 25 Lincoln-Way East 5
Homewood-Flossmoor (11-9; 5-3) won in walk-off fashion on Monday night in Flossmoor, stunning Lincoln-Way East (16-7; 5-5) and sending the Griffins to their fifth loss in six games. The Vikings tied the game when senior Patrick Sheehan scored on a wild pitch and then won the game when sophomore Jesse Forestell scored the game-winner on another Griffin wild pitch as the large Viking contingent danced onto Kedzi Avenue.

No.1 Lincoln-Way North 19, Thornridge 0
Lincoln-Way North (24-1; 10-0) crushed the Falcons in five innings on Monday.
Bradley-Bourbonnais 10, Andrew 2
Bradley-Bourbonnais dealt Andrew (18-8; 8-2) a devastating defeat on Monday in Tinley Park on Monday. With the defeat the T-Bolts fall two games behind SWSC-Red leaders No. 1 Lincoln-Way North, who invades Tinley Park on Wednesday. The two clubs meet again in Frankfort on Friday.
West Suburban Gold
Hinsdale South 2, Addison Trail 0
Hinsdale South (18-6; 13-2) blanked Addison Trail on Monday to sweep the series with the Trailblazers and vault atop the WSC-Gold standings. The defending WSC Gold champs have a three-game series with last-place Proviso East, with a twin-bill on Saturday in Darien and a single contest in Maywood on next Monday. Downers Grove South finishes WSC-Gold play ay 15-3.

Lyons Township (15-8; 9-5) won on Monday on a walk-off single from Lion junior 2B Sam Cybulski to keep Lions within a game of WSC leaders DG North and Oak Park. Hinsdale Central falls to (11-10; 7-7)

Glenbard North (14-8; 11-4) slipped past Wheaton Warrenville South (15-9; 9-5) behind Panther C Adam Villanueva, who had a single and two RBI to keep GBN in the DVC race. Vinny Slobodecki and Jeff LaPage each had a single and an RBI for the Panthers. Brett Consitt allowed one run in his four-innings of relief to pick up the win.
No. 21 Wheaton North 6, West Chicago 3
Wheaton North (18-5; 10-4) scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to sweep away West Chicago on Monday. Matt Mannix led the Falcon attack with a double two singles and two RBI. Jeff Harper had a double and an RBI while great Lake Bacher continued his torrid hitting with two more hits. Wheaton North will travel to DVC-leader Naperville Central (16-5; 11-3) for the third and final game of their crucial DVC series with the Redhawks on Tuesday.
Naperville North 6, West Aurora 0
Naperville North (14-7; 10-5) scored five times in the second and rolled behind a combined six-hit shutout from Bob Leonard, Kurt Krejci and Ian Gustafason. Leonard allowed the six hits in his six shutout innings of work. Krejci and Gustafson finished off the Blackhawks, in the seventh, with Gustafson ending the game with a flourish striking out the last West hitter. Nick Solak led the Huskie attack with a single triple a run scored and two RBI while Huskie leadoffman Ryan Krainz had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI.

Maine South 3, Glenbrook North 1
Maine South (15-6; 8-3 South) moved within a game of CSL-South leader No.9 Glenbrook South with a huge crossover win over Glenbrook North (17-7; 6-4 North).

Marian Catholic (16-8; 8-3) destroyed Joliet Catholic Academy (13-10; 6-6) on Monday behind a two-hit shutout from junior David Calderone. Calderone used his outstanding Spartan defense finishing the game with only one strikeout. Spartan senior Eric Hurley had a single and plated three for MC while junior Eric Callaghan was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Spartan leadoffman junior Luis Carlo Avilla chipped in with three hits, including a double and four runs scored.
Benet Academy 3, Notre Dame 1
Benet Academy (15-6; 8-3) continues to fly-under the radar and stay in the ESCC race. On Monday, behind Redwing RHP Pat Peterson’s seven-hitter beat the feisty Dons of Notre Dame. The Notre Dame run was unearned and Peterson fanned 10 Don hitters. Redwing leadoffman Connor Hickey and Jason Blohm each had a hit and plated a Redwing run. Blohm had a double.
Interstate 8 North
Westmont 3, Lisle 1
Westmont (20-4; 11-2) struck for two runs in the top of the seventh to rally past Lisle (14-7-1; 9-3-1) at Benedictine University on Monday night. The Sentinels scored the lead run on a Lisle miscue and picked up an insurance run on a clutch RBI single from leadoffman Ryan Schlicher. RHP Jean Pieterzak fired a three-hitter at the Lions and helped himself when he doubled home the first Sentinel run in the sixth.
The Sentinels and Lions will hook-up in Westmont on Tuesday at 4:30. The PBR’s Director of Scouting Steve Nielsen will be in Westmont with all of the action.
Interstate 8 South
Herscher 9, Wilmington 1
Herscher (22-2-2; 12-0-1) clinched the I-8 South behind a six-hitter from Tiger senior LHP Jimmy Brandt (7-1). Brandt struck out seven Wildcat hitters and did not walk a batter. Luke Azzarelli was 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Tiger attack. Red-Hot Braden Mulhstadt was also 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Lane Tech 13, Von Steuben 0
Lane Tech (18-8; 14-0) crushed Von Steuben again in five innings behind Walter Nolan-Cohn who singled doubled and plated three Indian runs. Mike Henry singled doubled and drove home two while Joel Velasquez chipped in with two RBI. Indian leadoffman Matt Delanty hammered a solo shot for the JRN-champs. Indian ace RHP Dylan Smith (6-0), fired a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts at VS.

Washington 7, Simeon 6
Washington exploded for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to stun Simeon (15-5-1; 7-2) on Monday. With the loss Simeon falls into second-place in the JR-South behind Morgan Park (18-5-1; 10-1). The two clubs will battle at Morgan Park on Wednesday at 4:30.
Mid-Illini
No. 16 Metamora 6, Washington 2
Metamora (21-4; 11-0) rolled past Washington behind super-soph Trent Johnson. The University of Arizona-recruit fired a three-hitter at the Panthers allowing two runs and striking out 13. Johnson improves to 7-0 on the season with a 1.49 ERA. Johnson has 68 punch-outs in 31 innings pitched for the Redbirds. Alec Skender continued his assault on the baseball with three more hits, including two doubles and drove home two more Redbird runs. Skender has now driven home 44 for the season.
Bartonville Limestone 2, Dunlap 1
Bartonville Limestone (19-4; 11-0) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to stun Dunlap and keep the Rockets tied with No. 16 Metamora atop the Mid-Illini standings. Dominick Johnson’s walk-off two- run single sent the Rocket fans into orbit in Bartonville on Monday.

Peoria Notre Dame 12, Peoria Manual 0
Peoria Notre Dame (16-5; 5-0) slammed the Rams in six innings on Monday behind a combined no-no from RHP Josh Schwindenhammer and RHP Mick Best. Schwindenhammer pitch 3 2/3 innings allowing no hits with five strikeouts and best pitched two and 1/3 innings of hitless ball with four strikeouts. Best led the Fighting Irish attack with three hits, including a triple and three RBI for the M-S6 leaders.
Mid-Suburban East
Rolling Meadows 6, Buffalo Grove 0
Rolling Meadows (12-8-1; 10-1) blanked the Bison behind a three-hit shutout with 16-strikeouts, from Mustang senior Matt Dennis (6-0). Senior Mickey Wazorick gave Dennis all the runs he would need with three hits, including a double and three RBI for the MSL-East leaders. Dennis lowered his ERA to 1.25 and has 78 strikeouts on the season.
Hersey 7, Elk Grove 2
Hersey (8-14; 5-6) struck for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to stun the Grenadiers in Arlington Heights on Monday. Ryan Rogers led the Huskies with a single double and an RBI while Ryan Allain added two singles and an RBI for Hersey. Tommy Pearson slammed the door on Elk Grove (17-7; 8-3) with two-hit ball over the last 4 2/3 innings to pick up the win in relief.
Mid-Suburban West
Barrington 5, Palatine 2
Barrington (16-8; 10-1) defeated Palatine (14-10-1; 7-4) behind red-hot Notre Dame-bound C Ryan Lidge. The future Fighting Irish C went 3-for-3 with two doubles and plated three Bronco runs. 6-foot-4 Wyatt Trautwein fired a two-hitter at the Pirates. Lidge is now hitting .435 with eight bombs and 32 RBI.
Fremd 9, Conant 6
Fremd (14-7; 8-3) moved into second place in the MSL West after their victory over the Cougars on Monday. Matt Isola led the Viking attack with a double triple homer and three RBI. Austin Jetel continued his torrid hitting with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Viking RHP Alec Dompke fired four scoreless innings allowing one hit in relief to pick up the win. Dompke had eight punch-outs.
Hoffman Estates 1, Schaumburg 0
Hoffman Estates (5-15; 3-6) blanked Schaumburg behind a one-hit shutout from Hawk ace RHP Jimmy Ward. Ward allowed a leadoff single to the Saxons in the first inning and then proceeded to throw no-hit baseball the rest of the way for the Hawks.

Wauconda (13-4; 7-1) blew out Round Lake to take over sole-possession of first-place in the NSC-Prairie. Bulldog Cody Reese had a double and three RBI while Brandon Gibis had a pair of doubles and two RBI for Wauconda. Kyle Bock chipped in with a double and two RBI. RHP Jeff Lindberg went the distance for the Bulldogs allowing two unearned runs and six hits with nine strikeouts.
Grant 10, Antioch 5
Grant (13-8; 4-4) exploded for six runs in the top of seventh to rally past the Sequoits on Monday. Missouri-bound Jake Ring and junior Simeon Lucas led the Bulldog attack each with a pair of hits and an RBI. Antioch falls to 14-9 overall and 6-2 in the NSC-Prairie.
N. Illinois Big 12 East
Morris 4, Kaneland 1
Morris (20-6; 12-2) defeated Kaneland (10-11-1; 8-6) and rapped up the NIB-12 East crown with the victory on Monday.

No. 19 Ottawa 8, Sterling 2
Ottawa (15-2; 9-0) smashed Sterling behind a pair of homers from Pirate Nick Harsted and Colton Trager. Harsted hammered a three-run bomb for the Pirates. while Trager also singled and plated a pair for Ottawa. Pirate ace RHP Jonah Morris fired a three-hitter at the Golden Eagles with 11 strikeouts.

Riverside-Brookfield 4, Glenbard South 3
Riverside-Brookfield (22-3-1; 10-2) slipped past Glenbard South (14-5; 10-2) in the conclusion of Thursday’s suspended contest to salvage a game and first place in the MSC.

Aurora Central Catholic (23-4; 11-3 Gold) rolled past city-rival Aurora Christian, behind junior Andy Bruss (6-2) who went the distance for the Chargers. The lone Eagle run was unearned. Heartland Community College-bound SS Matt Miller plated four big runs for ACC. Charger Matt Rahn took the Seventh Commandment lightly, by stealing three bases after his three singles in the game.
