No. 3 St. Rita 3, Providence 2
St. Rita (21-2; 9-0) slipped past Providence at home in thrilling fashion. The Mustangs tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth on junior Chris Delgadillo’s sac-bunt. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, a Providence (8-7; 2-4) miscue sent the Mustang faithful home very happy. Mustang senior RHP Dominic Fosco (5-1) fired a four-hitter at the Celtics with four strikeouts.

The Mustangs and Celtics will meet at Tom Dedin Field on the Providence campus at 11 on Saturday.

Brother Rice 2, Loyola 1
Brother Rice (9-7; 4-4) won a thriller on Wednesday behind Crusader starting and winning pitcher Ian McGinnis. McGinnis fired a three hitter at the Ramblers with five strikeouts. Junior Brian Musielak led the Crusader attack with two singles and two RBI. Senior Wendall Ferguson was 3-for-3 with a run scored.

Southwest Suburban Blue

No. 16 Lincoln-Way East12, Joliet Central 2
Lincoln-Way East (11-2; 4-1) smashed Central in six innings on Wednesday. Alan Hernandez had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two doubles for the Griffins with three RBI. Red-hot Evan Sandman, Aaron Donald and Kevin Duffin all had two hits and an RBI for the Griffins. RHP Nick Bruns allowed two runs in four innings to pick up the win on the mound for the SWSC-Blue leaders.

Lincoln-Way Central 4, Bolingbrook 1
Lincoln-Way Central (10-5; 4-2) swept past Bolingbrook on Wednesday by the same score as the Knights beat the Raiders on Monday. Knight RHP Dan Doherty allowed a run and three hits in his stellar six-inning performance to pick up the win. Lucas Jones homered for the Knights and had two RBI. Pat Michalak chipped in with a triple and an RBI for the Knights.

No. 11 Joliet West 3, Homewood-Flossmoor 1
Joliet West (11-4; 3-2) avenged Monday’s loss to H-F, behind a one-hit gem from senior RHP Jake Herron (4-1). Herron struck out eight Vikings and allowed two base-on-balls. Cody Grosse hammered a solo-shot and scored two runs to lead West. Tiger leadoff man Larry Holman and Joey Pharo singled and drove home the other two West runs.

No. 25 Lockport 7, No. 10 Sandburg 5
Lockport (11-5; 3-2) swept away Sandburg behind the Porters Heartland Community-bound C Derek Bangert. Bangert was 2-for-2 with his sixth round-tripper of the season and four RBI. Bangert also hit a pair of bombs against Lockport on Monday. Senior Colt Ryan fired 3 1/3 innings of solid relief to pick up the win. Lockport scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to erase to erase a 5-4 Eagle lead. Bangert is hitting .465 with the six bombs and 25 RBI.

No. 20 Downers Grove North 12, Addison Trail 0

West Suburban Silver

Hinsdale Central 4-4; Oak Park 3-2
Hinsdale Central (9-4; 5-3) stunned Oak Park twice and vaulted right into the thick of the WSC-Silver race. The Red Devils won the conclusion of Monday’s suspended game by pushing a run in the top of the seventh on a clutch RBI single from Joe Herr. RHP Bobby Skogsbergh shut down the Huskies in the bottom of the seventh to save the game for Red Devil RHP Austin Butler (2-0).

In game two, Skogsbergh fired a 1 1/3 innings of spotless relief to pick up his second save of the day for winning pitcher Christian Bokich (1-0). Herr led the Devils in game two with a single and an RBI. Oak Park falls to 8-5-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the WSC-Silver

Southwest Suburban Red

Andrew 20, Thornton 0
Andrew (13-6; 6-0) pounded out 19 hits in five innings on Wednesday to stay atop the SWSC-Red. T-Bolt senior Zach Klockowski doubled and had three RBI while Stephan Urosevic and Dennis Vilimek, each homered and drove home three runs for Andrew.

Stagg 2, Lincoln-Way West 0
Stagg (6-13; -3) surprised Lincoln-way West behind a four-hit masterpiece from senior RHP Jeff Goral (2-2). Junior Marty Struss broke up a scoreless duel with a clutch two-run single in the sixth to win it for Stagg.

Central State 8

No.22 Springfield Sacred-Heart Griffin 10, Springfield Lanphier 0
SHG (12-4; 6-3) blanked Lanphier on Wednesday behind a four-hit shutout from junior RHP Connor Etheridge (4-1). Cyclone senior 1B David Jacob went deep again for SHG and junior LF Corey Mason was 2-for-2 with a runs scored and an RBI.

DuPage Valley

Glenbard North 3, Glenbard East 2
Glenbard North (11-4; 9-0) nipped Glenbard East again to complete the sweep of the Panthers district rival. Panther senior C Jeff LaPage’s walk-off sac-fly won it for North in the bottom of the seventh. LaPage added a pair of singles to his fine day at the plate. Senior Brett Consitt fired two spotless innings in relief to pick up the win.

No. 8 Naperville Central 10, West Aurora 2
Naperville Central (10-4; 5-2) hammered the Black Hawks behind Creighton University-bound SS Nick Lopez and University of Minnesota-bound RHP Cody Campbell. Campbell allowed a run and three hits in his stellar five-inning outing to pick up the win. Lopez had two doubles two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Redhawk attack. Senior Jeff Schank singled scored three runs and drove home a Redhawk run.

Naperville North 5, Wheaton Warrenville South 2
Naperville North (8-5; 4-3) stayed in the DVC race with a big win in Wheaton on Wednesday. Huskie RHP Colin Ash allowed one run and five hits in six innings to pick up the win. Pat Mollo and Mark Khoury each plated a pair of Huskie runs while Ryan Krainz chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.

Mid-Illini

Metamora 10, Pekin 3
Metamora (16-4; 7-0) crushed Pekin on Wednesday behind sophomore Trent Johnson. The University of Arizona recruit had three more hits and drove home three runs to lead the Redbirds. Brendan Nachtrieb singled and went deep for the “Birds and plated two runs. Joe Barrow chipped in with a single double and two RBI.

Bartonville Limestone 11, East Peoria 1
Limestone (14-4, 7-0) kept pace with Metamora in the Mid-Illini with a six-inning win over East Peoria, on Wednesday. Dominick Johnson homered and singled for the Rockets and had two RBI. Jack Koeppel added a single double and also plated a pair for Limestone. Senior RHP Zach Jewell (6-1) fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to pick up the win.

Big 12

Bloomington 24, Decatur MacArthur 5
Bloomington (14-6; 4-0) won for the eight consecutive time crushing the Generals, behind a four-hit day from senior Roman Visintine who also drove home two Purple Raider runs. Brandon Edwards and Charlie Cerny each had three hits and three RBI for Bloomington. Senior Jake Scogin (5-1) with the win on the mound.

Central Suburban Crossovers

Maine South 9, Highland Park 6
Maine South (9-3; 4-0 South) was led by Zack Jones, who homered scored two runs and drove in the more to lead defending CSL-South champs to victory. Hawk SS Caleb De Marigny chipped in with two hits and two RBI.

No. 17 Glenbrook South 14, Niles North 1
Glenbrook South (10-2; 3-1 South) exploded for 10 runs in the top of the seventh to put this one away on Wednesday in Skokie. Matt Hoshaw had three hits, including a double and drove home two runs to lead the Titan attack. Titan senior Kyle Pauly singled doubled and drove home three runs for GBS. Nick Loggarakis chipped in with a single and two RBI.

Glenbrook North 7, New Trier 4
Glenbrook North (11-5; 3-1 North) won behind Washington University-bound Brad RHP Brad Margolin, who fired a six-hitter with six strikeouts and Spartan Grant Rushing had two hits and drove home three to lead the GBN attack.

Fox Valley Crossover

No. 9 Huntley 18, Johnsburg 5
Huntley improved to 14-1; 7-1 with the win.

Crystal Lake Central 7, No. 21 Cary-Grove 6
Cary-Grove suffered a tough FVC crossover defeat on Wednesday. Cary-Grove scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh only to have the Tigers answer with three in the bottom of the seventh to win this thriller. Crystal Lake Central’s (7-6; 3-3 Fox) Parker Harold’s walk-off double, sent everybody home to lead the Tiger attack.

Seniors Colin Telmanik and Connor Skrypek each had two RBI and senior James VanScoyoc fell a homer shy of hitting for the cycle for the Tigers. Cary-Grove (12-4; 6-3 Valley) was led by C Mike Ewert, who hit a solo-shot and had two singles for the Trojans. Dylan Lee also homered with a man on for CG.

Jacobs 4, Grayslake Central 2

McHenry 16, Woodstock 6
McHenry (12-6; 6-2) pounded out 18 hits to stay in the FVC-Valley race on Wednesday. Adam Mattson singled, doubled and drove home four Warrior runs while Nick Svoboda added three singles and two RBI. David Gehrke and Cody Freund each had two hits and two RBI for the Warriors. Jordan Witbeck and Jack Glosson joined the party as Witbeck had two singles and ribbies, while Glosson chipped in with three singles.

Fox Valley - Valley

Prairie Ridge 10, Dundee-Crown 5
Prairie Ridge (15-4; 6-2) roared past D-C behind junior Austin Covers, who had four singles and two RBI to lead the Wolves. Senior Brian Klendworth had a perfect 3-for-3 day with a double and two RBI. University of Missouri-bound Jordan Getzelman homered, singled and plated a pair of PR runs.

Minooka 13, Oswego East 0

Upstate 8 Valley

Bartlett 17, East Aurora 1
Bartlett (10-2; 9-1) trounced East Aurora in five innings behind senior Matt Vitulli who homered, doubled and drove home four Hawk runs. Senior Ben Havel doubled tripled and plated three Bartlett while junior Trevor Svetic added a two-run triple to the 13-hit Bartlett attack.

Lake Park 6, Neuqua Valley 2
Lake Park (12-4; 8-3) completed its three-game sweep of Neuqua Valley on Wednesday behind the red-hot bat of senior 3B Christian Taugner. Taugner singled, tripled and plated three Lancer runs to lead LP to victory. Taugner is now hitting .375 with 16 RBI. The multi-talented senior is also 3-1 on the mound with a glittering 1.46 ERA.

Lancer starting and winning pitcher Eric Vatch (3-0) fired a three-hitter at the Wildcats allowing only one earned run. Neuqua Valley (10-6; 7-3) was led by senior David Gerber, who was 2-for-2 and scored both Wildcat runs.

South Elgin 2, Waubonsie Valley 1
South Elgin (7-6; 5-4), after losing a pair of 1-0 heart-breakers to WV, paid the Warriors back with a thrilling one-run victory in eight innings on Wednesday. Storm junior Ryan Nutof fired a two-hitter with 10 punch-outs at the Warriors. The Storm had only two hits as well but received a big one from Storm senior Joe Crivolio, whose RBI single won it for SE. Waubonsie Valley’s (10-6, 8-3) Troy Fumagalli drove home the lone Warrior run.

North Suburban Prairie

Antioch 6, Grant 5
Antioch (7-4; 2-1) trailed Grant 5-2 after two innings, tied the game at 5-5 after four innings and then won the game in the eighth. Sequoit junior C Adam Harvey had a pair of singles and plated four runs to lead the Antioch attack. On the mound, seniors David Meade and Dave Rzewnicki did not allow an unearned and stuck out 12 Bulldog hitters for Antioch. Rzewnicki picked up the win with 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief allowing one hit and striking out two. Meade fanned 10 in his 5 2/3 innings of work allowing no earned runs and five hits.

Upstate 8 River

Batavia 5, St. Charles East 4
Batavia (13-3; 8-3) spotted St. Charles East a 4-0 lead and then rallied past the Saints to salvage a game in this crucial U8C-River series. Senior Luke Horton led the Bulldog attack with two singles and two RBI. Senior Austin Shanahan went the distance for Batavia allowing four runs and seven hits to pick up the win. St. Charles East (10-6; 8-3) was led by Fighting Saint senior C Brian Sobiesky, who singled scored two runs and drove one home. Senior Anthony Sciarrino had a 2-for-2 day at the plate with a run scored.

St. Charles North 3, Geneva 1
St. Charles North beat Geneva on Wednesday behind North Star sophomore LHP Cory Wright. Wright fired a five-hitter at the Vikings and helped himself with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Geneva freshman Nick Derr (Florida State-recruit) had two of the five hits for the Vikings.

Catholic White

De La Salle 10, St. Ignatius 4
De La Salle (9-8; 5-4) was led by UIC-bound Ricardo Ramirez, who went 4-for-4 with a bomb and two RBI. Joe Izzo also went deep for the CCL-White leaders.

St. Joseph 7, Fenwick 6
St. Joseph (7-7; 5-5) held on to defeat Fenwick on Wednesday. Fenwick scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to make things interesting in River Forest. Charger leadoff man Sean Holas had a perfect 4-for-4 day with a run scored. Ryan Moritz hammered a two-run bomb for St. Joe and Trevor Blue doubled and plated two runs as well. Senior Trayvon Johnson (2-2) allowed one earned run and seven hits in his 6 2/3 innings of work to get the win.

Mid-Suburban East

Rolling Meadows 9, Prospect 0
Rolling Meadows (6-5-1; 4-0) kept pace with Elk Grove atop the MSL-East on Wednesday. Mustang RHP Matt Dennis fired a two-hit shutout at the Knights with 11 strikeouts. Dennis improved to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to a microscopic 0.48. Mickey Wazorick doubled and drove home two Mustang runs. Eric Scrhutz and Alex Nieckiowski each had two hits and an RBI for RM.

Hersey 6, Wheeling 5
Hersey (4-8; 2-2) slipped past Wheeling on Wednesday to even up the Huskies MSL-East record. The Huskies were led by Joe Silva and Ryan Rodgers who both singled doubled and plated a pair of Hersey runs. Dave Milligan chipped in with a single double and an RBI.

Mid-Suburban West

Barrington 3, Conant 2
Barrington (8-7; 3-0) stayed atop the MSL-West with a thrilling eight-inning victory on Wednesday. Bronco senior Scott Nelson’s walk-off single to right sent the chilled fans gathered at Kirby Smith Field home happy. Senior Macray Poidomani led the Bronco attack with two singles and an RBI. RHP Dylan Balogh picked up the win with a scoreless eighth inning.

Fremd 10, Schaumburg 0
Fremd (8-5; 2-1) hammered Schaumburg in five innings on Wednesday behind a two-hit shutout from RHP Mac Rosman. Rosman fanned eight and walked five in his complete-game gem. The Vikings were led by Sam Beutler, who hammered a three-run bomb for Fremd and finished with four RBI. Austin Jetel and Alec Dompke each had two hits and two RBI. Dompke had a double. Tim Polak chipped in with two hits and an RBI while Jon Escobar was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Aurora Central Catholic 11, Chicago Christian 1
Aurora Central Catholic (17-2; 8-1) turned the tables on Chicago Christian (18-3; 8-2) on Wednesday in Aurora. After being blasted 11-0 in five innings on Monday at Chicago Christian, ACC slammed the Knights 11-1. Charger Steve Belovich hammered a bomb with the bases full of Chargers for the big blow of the game. Hunter Fiorito chipped in with a pair of hits and Heartland-Community College-bound RHP Matt Miller (4-0) went the distance and struck out 13 Knight batters to improve to 4-0 on the season.

NIC 10

Belvidere North 8, Rockton Hononegah 2
Hunter Blake and Devin Glen went deep for North to stun the Indians on Wednesday.
