Day two of the MLB Draft is complete and it saw six former Illinois High School players chosen from the college ranks. Here is a look at those players.

Kyle Funkhouser, RHP, University of Louisville (Oak Forest), 2012
4th Round, 115th overall, Detroit Tigers

Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers 35th overall last season, but did not sign and returned to Louisville. Though he did not show the premium stuff he flashed last year. Has a chance to be a solid pick up for the Tigers.

Kyle Funkhouser7.7.12 - A two-time Prep Baseball Report first-team All-State selection, Funkhouser will go down as one of Illinois’ most decorated pitchers in recent history. In three varsity seasons, the University of Louisville recruit amassed an incredible 32-3 record after going 11-2 during his senior campaign. Few, if pitcher, possessed better stuff than Funkhouser. His fastball regularly sat in the 88-90 mph range, climbing as high as 94 mph in the playoffs, and he commanded the strike zone with three pitches.  A workhorse on the mound, Funkhouse racked up 123 strikeouts and walked 25 in 78.2 innings as a senior. He finished with a 0.89 ERA - a number that would’ve been significantly lower if not for an anomalous game against Andrew. As a junior, Funkhouser led Oak Forest to a Class 3A runner-up finish after he went 12-0 with a 0.84 ERA. In 82.2 innings, he struck out 134 and walked 25. He also posted a 9-1 record as a sophomore

Lake Bachar, RHP, UW-Whitewater (Wheaton North), 2013
5th round, 145th overall, San Diego Padres

Did not play baseball his freshman year at Whitewater, instead was a kicker/punter on the powerhouse football team. Came on strong last year in the Northwoods League where he showed premium velocity. Workhorse for the Warhawks this year as he threw 92.2 innings allowing just 79 hits and striking out 103 against just 20 walks.

Nick Lopez, SS, Creighton University (Naperville Central), 2013
5th round, 163rd overall, Kansas City Royals

Nick Lopez11.18.11 - The athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound middle infielder is an impressive athlete who showed well in all facets of the game. Defensively, he displayed advanced actions and hands in the field. Lopez moves with fluidity while fielding the ball with soft hands out front. At the plate, the left-handed hitter displayed excellent balance and rhythm throughout his swing. Lopez displayed a short, quick stroke through the zone that consistently hit line drives. Lopez also showed some foot speed, running a 7.09 60.

Brent Gibbs, C, Central Arizona JC (Alton), 2013
7th round, 225th overall, Pittsburgh Pirates

Originally attended Indiana out of high school but transferred to Central Arizona this year where he hit .396 with five homeruns and 38 RBIs. Committed to Southern California.

Brent Gibbs2/19/12 Verbally committed to Indiana University, Gibbs is an elite catching prospect. The physically impressive 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has incredibly strong legs and arm strength: He was clocked at 84 mph from the crouch. His arm strength and advanced footwork added up to a top pop time of 1.91. Furthermore, Gibbs consistently was on the bag with his throws and receives with a firm wrist and soft hands. At the plate, Gibbs has a balanced setup and a strong lower half that he used to get good rotation on his swing.  He consistently barrels up the baseball and showed power potential to all fields.

Jason Goldstein, C, University of Illinois (Highland Park), 2012
9th round, 267th overall, Seattle Mariners

Jason Goldstein17th round pick of the Dodgers last year, but came back for his senior year with the Illini. Four year starter for Illinois where he hit .289 for his career with 16 home runs and 115 RBIs.

Strong-armed catcher can flat swing it. As a sophomore he tallied 18 doubles, 3 homers, 32 RBI. Top-level defensive catcher has an advanced plate approach. One of the top offensive players in the Class of 2012. As a freshman on varsity, Goldstein blasted 5 HRs and 8 doubles.

Colin Holderman, RHP, Heartland CC (Bradley-Bourbonnais), 2014
9th round, 280th overall, New York Mets

Originally attended Southern Illinois out of high school, but transferred to Heartland for this school year. This fall showed a mid 90s fastball and in turn committed to Mississippi State.
