Lockport Rising Stars ID: Statistical Analysis & Takeaways
May 1, 2023
The annual Lockport Rising Stars was back yet again this April and took place on the evening of Wednesday, April 12th at The Bo Dome in Lockport, IL. The open event designed for 2027 and 2028 prospects featured 50+ prospects, many of whom showed extremely well and will be in consideration for future invite-only events and should be names that play prominently in the state for years to come.
Today we take a look at a couple of the standouts, as well as breakdown the top statistical performers from the day with our “Statistical Analysis” below.
TAKEAWAYS
Tennessee commit, UTIL Sebastian Wilson (Lane Tech), is no stranger to events and continues to shine every time we see him. He is one of the more advanced prospects we have seen to-date in the class and he swings an elite left-handed bat for his age.
OF Josh Morgan (Fenwick) emerged as a high-follow in the class, showing well-above average tools across the board. Morgan has a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and opened eyes running a 6.67 laser-timed 60, the best of the event. He then proceeded to take a polished, strong round of BP, routinely barreling baseballs up the middle of the field, working on the barrel and to both gaps with authority. He also moved with a purpose in the outfield and showed a strong arm that topped at 85 mph. Morgan will be a name to follow closely as he starts working his way through high school.
Gavin Stanislawski, Anthony Cartolano, Aidan Dillon, Mikey Watson, Jordan Culbreath and Brady Cunningham are just a few 2027s in attendance that showed well and are heading to Brother Rice next year. Of them, Stanislawski had one of the top all-around showings on the day. On the mound, he has a polished repertoire with a clean upside arm and fastball that topped at 82 mph. Stanislawski also had one of the more intriguing swings on the day, working highly-repeatable, short and flat through the zone with a knack for hard contact.
Luke Bryant and Jaxson Pinter are a pair of 2027s from Hall Township who deserve a mention with solid all-around showings and will be names to watch down the road.
Connor Kenjic (Hobart, IN) and Brody Lindemann (Belleville East) were two of the top catchers who also have ability and stuff on the mound. Both are two-way follows moving forward.
Carson Trivellini (Crystal Lake South) and Jacsen Tucker (Oswego East) both impressed with their infield actions and ability to stick on the left-side moving forward. Both were some of the better infield defenders on the day.
Of the 2028s in attendance, Landon Maisenbacher (Pleasant Plains), has all the makings to be a high-level defender up the middle of the infield moving forward. The diminutive middle infielder plays with pace, advanced footwork, soft confident hands and an advanced feel for the position given his age. Currently gets the most out of his frame and is fundamentally sound across the board with upside to all parts of his game.
