CRESTWOOD, IL - The No. 21 Marist Redhawks (17-6) hosted non-conference rival No. 6 Brother Rice (16-5) in a game under the lights at Standard Bank Stadium. With the help from Justin Janas (Illinois commit) on the mound and at the plate, the Redhawks ousted the Crusaders with a final tally of 10-5.

The Brother Rice Crusaders struck first in the game, plating five runs in the third inning. Michael Bolton (Purdue commit) led off with a walk, Kendall Pettis (Oklahoma commit) then laced a hard RBI single to center scoring Bolton, Ryan Maher walked with the bases loaded and Dillan Fike rolled an RBI groundout to short. Danny Doligale then flared a two-out, two-RBI single to left making the score 5-0. Pettis finished 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Sam Jones (Indiana commit) showed well at the plate smashing two singles to left finishing 2-for-3 touching home once and walking once. Doligale went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a walk and a stolen bag. 

The Redhawks answered with six of their own in the bottom of the 4th. Max Malley (Evansville commit) got the two-out rally started with a double to deep left/centerfield. Three hitters later, Sophomore Dane Thomas roped a two-run double past the first basemans reach. Jack Brannigan (Notre Dame commit), the catalyst of the Marist offense, then drove an opposite field RBI double to right. Jason Hodges (Arkansas commit) walked and Justin Janas capped off the big inning courtesy of a line drive, opposite field double, scoring two more Redhawks. 

Marist tacked on four more in the 6th inning, highlighted by a three-run triple by Janas deep right/centerfield. Kendal Ewell (Eastern Kentucky commit) also had a sac fly in the inning. Brannigan showed well on both sides of the ball and finished with a line of: 2-for-3, R, RBI, BB, SB. Thomas went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs of his own. 

Janas came on in relief in the third inning and did not allow a Crusader to touch home. He stymied a potent offense for 4 and ⅔ innings with a two-pitch FB/CB mix, which he steadily threw for strikes. The big righty allowed only three hits, struck out four and walked one. He finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a double, scored once and drove in five. 

Brother Rice starter Lou Latino finished with a line: 2IP, H, 0 R, 1 K.
