In game three, of a three-game Central Suburban conference matchup, Glenbrook South had their ace on the mound, unsigned senior LHP Ryan O’Hara and were looking for a sweep of Maine South. Maine South, answered with their own senior on the mound, RHP Bobby Inserra, and he delivered a complete-game performance to give Maine South a 2-1 win and avoid the sweep.

Inserra, did not overpower the Glenbrook South (19-11) lineup with velocity but he consistently kept them off balance with his fastball/curveball combination and stayed out of the middle of the plate throughout. Inserra threw six shutout innings after giving up a run in the top of the first and only allowed four hits the rest of the way. All-in-all, Inserra went seven innings, threw 105 pitches (63% strikes), scattered five hits, one earned run, struck out three and walked one. Inserra, who led off for the Hawks, also played a role on offense. With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, Inserra grounded a ball up the middle for a game-tying RBI single, scoring Tyler Houck.

Maine South (19-13) took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the game tied at one, Maine South loaded the bases with one out and Ethan Quinn drove a sacrifice fly to center field. The sacrifice fly scored Connor Leyden easily from third base, which turned out to be the game-winning run.

Glenbrook South’s, unsigned senior, LHP Ryan O’Hara, has been one of the most talked about prospects still on the market in recent weeks and rightfully so. O’Hara, who is listed at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, started for Glenbrook and took a no decision going 3.1 innings on 64 pitches. O’Hara scattered six hits, allowed one run, struck out three and walked two. O’Hara used primarily a fastball/slider combination throughout, sitting anywhere from 83-88 mph with his fastball and 76-80 mph with his slider. He showed the ability to throw the slider for a strike early in the count and bury it with two strikes.

The Titans of Glenbrook South got their lone run in the first inning. Jacob Snyder walked with one out and advanced to third on a deep double to right-center field by unsigned senior RF Brandon Matias. Sophomore George Korompilas then grounded a ball to the second baseman for the RBI groundout. Matias finished 1-for-3 with the double. Nobody on either team had more than one hit.

Ben Sacor and Leyden both went 1-for-3 and scored the two runs for Maine South.
