Ryan Kutt called Brother Rice’s remarkable 2016 accomplishment “unrealistic.”
Thirty-game winning streaks aren’t really a thing in any sport, let alone baseball, and certainly not when 70 percent of those victories came within a conference that is far-and-away the strongest in Illinois.
“That was unbelievable,” Kutt said. “To go 21-0 in the Catholic Blue was so much fun, but in reality that was an unrealistic experience. Nobody should win 30 games in a row, especially with the schedule we play.”
The schedule, which began with a split of non-conference games against Lyons and Lincoln-Way East and includes next week’s exclusive National High School Invitational at USA Baseball’s National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., is even more difficult this spring ...
