Illinois Recruiting Notebook

Several more 2014 prospects have named their schools recently. A look at who’s going where:

+ Dean Christakes, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound OF/MIF from Cary-Grove HS, has committed to the University of Chicago. The multi-positional standout is currently ranked No. 112 in Illinois’ 2014 class.  Christakes showed well at the Preseason All-State Showcase last February, when he ran a 6.71 60 and was clocked at 86 mph from the outfield.

+ Austin Kline, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound 3B from Montini HS, has committed to Brunswick CC in North Carolina. The switch-hitting Kline is currently ranked No. 181 in Illinois’ 2014 class. He ran a 7.19 60 and shows a solid swing from both sides of the plate.

+ Brian Musielak, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound RHP from Brother Rice HS, has committed to Concordia University in Illinois. As a junior, Musielak earned quality victories for the Crusaders.

+ Eric Mallo, a 5-foot-11, 155-pound OF from Richards HS, has committed to Waldorf College in Iowa. At the Unsigned Senior Showcase in October, Mallo ran a 7.34 60.
