Illinois Metro East Open: Top Overall Prospects
August 17, 2018
The annual Metro East took place earlier this summer on June 26th. The event, originally scheduled to take place at Blazier Field in O’Fallon, was moved indoors to Kings Point Sports Club (Batters Box), due to inclement weather.
On Monday, we began the breakdown of the event, looking at the catchers in attendance. Today we conclude the analysis of the event with a look at the Top Overall Prospects.
TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS
Austin Young RHP / SS / Fort Zumwalt East , MO / 20216-foot-5, 165-pound, right-handed pitcher; extremely long-limbed, highly-projectable frame with plenty of room for continued physical development. High-ceiling arm, should be a high-follow in the Missouri 2021 class. Given his long-limbs and age, repeats delivery well. Delivery works with rhythm, on-line, lands slightly closed. Compact arm action, comes out of a high ¾ window, loose and quick out front. Fastball, thrown for strikes, occasional late life and run at the bottom of the zone, sat 81-83 mph. Curveball is currently best secondary offering; 11/5 to 10/4 shape, sharp action at times, maintains arm speed, 61-67 mph. Changeup, straight action, 72-75 mph. High ceiling 2021 arm. |
