No. 2 St. Laurence 7, Boulder (CO) 0
The Vikings opened up their season in Tucson, Arizona at the Chris Moon Tournament with a solid victory on Tuesday. Heartland Community College-bound RHP Alex Hitney (1-0) allowed four hits in his five innings of work, striking out nine. Junior Frank Greco doubled and drove home two for the St. Laurence (1-0). Senior 2B Nate Tholl had three hits and an RBI while St. Francis College-bound Roger Wilson added a pair of hits.
No. 2 St. Laurence 9, Arvada West (CO) 4
St. Laurence (2-0) trailed 4-2 as the game entered the bottom of the fourth inning, The Vikings erupted for six runs and rolled to another victory in the Chris Moon Tournament. Senior Roger Wilson had two hits and two RBI. NIU-bound Brad Wood had two singles and scored two runs while Austin Peay-bound C TJ Marik had a hit and two RBI. Senior 2B Nate Tholl chipped in with a double and an RBI. Junior RHP Frank Greco (1-0) did not allow an earned run in his six solid innings of work on the mound. Greco allowed three hits and had six strikeouts.
No. 32 Lockport 11, Wauconda 0
Lockport hammered Wauconda at Rent One Park in Marion behind the booming bats of senior Ryan Hoh and junior Tyler Hair. Hoh was 2-for-2 with a single, triple, scored three runs and drove two in. Hair had a good day with two singles, two runs scored and three driven in. Senior Ryan Dalton hammered a shot that left Rent One Park in a hurry. We knew the Porters had a number of quality arms as was demonstrated by the performances of Concordia University-bound RHP Mike Formella and junior LHP Austin Moralis. Formella (1-0) fired four scoreless innings at the Bulldogs, allowing three hits with nine punchouts. Moralis allowed one hit in his two scoreless innings with five punchouts.
