No, 22 New Trier 12, St. Viator 11
New Trier (6-2) outslugged St. Viator (9-3) in Arlington Heights on Wednesday. In a game where each team had seven-run innings, the Trevians used the long ball to sink the Lions. Senior Grant Klenovich hit a grand-slam while senior Nolan Wible went deep with two men on. Senior Frank Nicholas hit a two-run blast for New Trier.
No. 25 Barrington 4, Jacobs 3
Barrington (9-3) answered the Golden Eagles three-run third with a four-run top of the fourth and went on to the victory in Algonquin. The first two batters in the Bronco fourth were retired and then the Broncos struck. Senior Jack Lenz’s RBI double made it 3-1. Junior Mitch Pfeiffer singled home the second Bronco run of the inning. Red-hot senior Shane Yorton tied the game at 3-3 with a booming RBI double. Later in the inning, senior Dan Kubiuk walked with the bases loaded to force in the eventual game-winner. RHP Anthony DeLaurentis allowed the three runs in six innings, to pick up the win and Bronco closer, Kubiuk, pitched a scoreless seventh to nail down the save.
No. 15 Metamora 8, Canton 2
Metamora (9-1; 2-0) scored five times in the fifth and swept away Canton. Kansas State-recruit Ethan Skender singled, homered scored two runs and drove in three to lead the Redbird attack. Junior Zach Theiler doubled and plated two while junior Caleb Brachbill singled, doubled and had an RBI. Junior RHP Braden Mann (2-0) allowed one earned run, five hits, with five strikeouts in his six stellar innings of work.
