No. 23 Batavia 6, South Elgin 0
Batavia (9-1-1; 5-0-1 River) senior RHP Colby Green fired a no-hitter at the Storm in front of the home folks in Batavia. Green struck out six and walked three. Sophomore Kyle Niemiec homered and drove in two Bulldog runs.
St. Charles North 3, Bartlett 2
St. Charles North (9-2; 5-1 River) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to erase a 2-1 Hawk lead and kept pace with Batavia in the U8C River. North Star starting and winning pitcher junior Cory Wright went the distance, allowing two runs and eight hits. Freshman Zach Mettetal singled and plated a North Star run.
No. 14 O’Fallon 1, Highland 0
O’Fallon (14-2) won a thriller at Blazier Field in O’Fallon. O’Fallon junior RHP Christopher Holba outdueled Highland ace RHP Grant Geppert by not allowing a Highland batter to hit safely. That’s right, a no-hitter for the talented junior. Holba struck out five and walked one. Senior Jeff Hahs led off the Panther sixth with a booming double to center. Red-hot Bradley Snyder was walked intentionally and senior Blake Deatheridge reached base with a perfectly executed bunt single to load up the bases. Sophomore Dillon Weiss came into run for Haas at third.Geppert got Dean Garros to pop up to second for the first out of the inning. Sophomore Cam Bauer hit a sac-fly, scoring Weiss with the only run of this game.
Holba retired the first Bulldog on a grounder to second and then finished off his no-no with a flourish, striking out the final two Bulldog batters to set off a massive Blazier Field celebration on the mound.
