No. 8 Libertyville 9, No. 19 Glenbrook South 8
Libertyville (8-2) and Glenbrook South had batting practice at the expense of each other's pitching staffs in the first three innings of this Top 20 battle in Glenview. Libertyville scored all nine of its runs in the first three innings and took a 9-7 lead into the fourth inning. Ben Manski had two doubles and drove in two Wildcat runs while senior Matt Reed singled and drove home a pair. Senior Conor Simpson chipped in with two singles and an RBI. Senior RHP Andrew Mack allowed a run and three hits in his four stellar innings of relief of starting and winning pitcher Andrew Plunkett. Mack struck out six. Glenbrook South (6-3) was led by Connor Pauly, who had two doubles and drove home three Titan runs. Paul Jones added three singles and three RBI for GBS.
Peoria Notre Dame 11, No. 15 Metamora 9
Peoria Notre Dame (5-4) outslugged the 15th-ranked Redbirds in Metamora. The Fighting Irish were led by Jake Hurst, who had three singles three runs scored and drove one home while junior Andy Shadid added a single, double a run scored and an RBI for PND. Truman Ralph chipped in with a single and two RBI. Metamora (9-2) was led by their junior Kansas State-recruit Ethan Skender, who was 3-for-3 with two homers, his third and fourth dingers of the season, and four RBI. C Jake Guede had three hits including a solo homer.
No. 16 O’Fallon 7, Normal West 2
O’Fallon (11-1) and Normal West were deadlocked at 1-1 when the Panthers scored six times in the fourth and coasted to the nonconference victory at Blazier Park. Senior Jeff Hahs, senior Collin Holton, sophomore Bradley Harrison and sophomore Bradley Snyder all had two hits and an RBI for O’Fallon. Junior RHP Chris Holba (1-0) did not allow an earned run in his six solid innings of work, allowing just two hits to pick up the win. STAT NOTE: O’ Fallon’s senior RHP Blake Deatheridge is 5-0 with a 1.81 ERA.in 23 innings pitched. Blake has allowed just six earned runs and 19 hits. Deatheridge has 31 strikeouts. At the plate he is hitting .447 with four doubles one triple and 15 RBI
