Fulton Captures Class 1A 3rd Place Trophy

PEORIA, IL – In the Class 1A Third Place game the Steamers of Fulton captured the first state baseball trophy taking down Okaw Valley 11-7 behind an offensive flurry, with five regulars providing multiple hits.
Fulton (21-9) pounded out thirteen hits and eleven runs highlighted by a four run bottom of the first, and a five run third. Junior center fielder Jack Lemke led the way offensively going went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, one walk, and two stolen bases.
Junior lefthander Michael Dixon improved to 4-1 on the year, earning the win with three innings of 1-hit, 1-run relief for Fulton. Senior lefthander Devon Still took the loss on the mound for the Timberwolves (26-8), but still finished the 2015 campaign an impressive 10-3.
Trey Simmons, Devon Ballard, Colin Houzenga (2 RBI), and freshman Erik North each had two hits for the Steamers, while Simmons scored three runs. Junior first baseman Erik Ryder went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Okaw Valley was led offensively by junior second baseman Dylan Park, who finished 2-for-3 with a walk and 3 RBI.
