Brother Rice 1, No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 0
With one out and the bases full of Crusaders, Brother Rice (14-7) junior C Kyle Hilliard stepped up to the plate in a scoreless game in the top of the seventh. Hilliard dropped a single in front of Lincoln-Way North CF Corey Krupske, scoring Crusader junior leadoffman Kevin Sullivan with the lone run of this instant classic.
Crusader junior RHP Kevin Biondic (1-3) retired the top-ranked Phoenix in order in the bottom of the seventh to complete his three-hit shutout masterpiece. Lincoln-Way North suffers its first loss of the season after 23 consecutive victories.
With the win, Brother Rice (1-0) sits atop Pool B of the 2ND Annual Steven M. Bajenski Memorial Tournament. On Thursday May 16 at Benedictine University, the Crusaders will watch Lincoln-Way North and No. 3 St. Laurence battle at 5. The game will commence at 7:30. Catholic League Crossover
No. 2 St. Rita 5, Fenwick 4
St Rita (23-4; 10-2 Blue) nipped Fenwick behind senior LF Connor McClain, who drove home two big Mustang runs. St. Joseph’s College-bound 1B Marty Napleton chipped in with two hits and an RBI. Junior RHP Nick Goldsmith improved to 4-0 on the mound and junior Patrick Henry nailed down the save for Goldsmith.

No. 9 Downers Grove South 7, York 0
Downers Grove South (22-3) scored four runs in the third inning and added three more in the fourth to put earn its 14th consecutive victory. Mustang RHP Alex Galik fired a one-hitter at the Dukes. Galik also singled tripled scored a run and drove home a run. University of Pacific-bound Dan Mayer doubled home a pair of runs while University of Iowa-bound Zack Burdi singled home two Mustang runs.
No. 16 Teutopolis 10, Neoga 0
Teutopolis (19-3) blanked Neoga in five innings behind a one-hitter from SIU-bound RHP Kyle Pruemer. Pruemer (8-1) also doubled and drove home a run for the Wooden Shoes. Chase Wendling added a single double scored three runs and drove in two while Reed Hardiek singled home a pair for T-Town.

Glenbrook North 3, Maine West 0
Glenbrook North (17-5; 10-1) blanked the Warriors behind a one-hit shutout from Spartan Jake DeRousse who struck out seven. Red-hot Brad Margolin was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a run driven home.
On Saturday at 1:30, the Spartans will travel to Glenview and face No.12 Glenbrook South (16-3; 8-2 South) in a CSL- Crossover matchup.

Elk Grove (16-6; 8-2 East) slipped past Palatine (12-9-1; 7-3 West) behind a three-hitter from Grenadier RHP David Camacho. Camacho (5-1) struck out five pirate hitters and walked none. The Palatine run was unearned. Mickey Maize and Josh Bergbreiter plated the two Grenadier runs.
Interstate 8 Crossovers
Westmont 4, Reed-Custer 2
Westmont (19-4; 10-2 North) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to slip past the Comets in Westmont on Friday. Tom Franczak singled home the eventual game-winner in the sixth and later in the inning the red-hot Sentinel leadoffman Ryan Schlicher added an insurance RBI for the I-8 North leaders. On Monday night at Benedictine University in Lisle, first place will be on the line as the Sentinels will face the Lisle Lions (14-6-1; 9-2-1) at 6:30. Herscher 11, Coal City 0
Herscher (20-2-2; 10-0-1 South) crushed the Coalers in five-innings behind a combined two-hit shutout from senior RHP’s Austin Mendell and Cody Cadle. Mendell allowed one hit in four innings and Cadle gave up the other hit in his one inning of work. Braden Muhlstadt doubled and drove home three Tiger runs while Dalton Sproul had two singles two run scored and two RBI.
Herscher 15, Seneca 1
Herscher (21-2-2; 11-0-1 South) won its second game of the day under the lights at Seneca crushing the Fighting Irish in five innings. RHP’s Blake Patchett and Nick Wheeler combined for a two-hitter. Patchett allowed an unearned run and one in in his four innings of work. Wheeler finished up the game allowing a hit in the fifth. Braden Muhlstadt doubled tripled and plated three Tiger runs. Chase Boydston, Kyle Burton, and Austin Mendell all had two RBI for the I-8 South leaders.
Interstate 8 South
Manteno 6, Seneca 2
Manteno (18-3; 9-3 South) won for the seventh consecutive time behind the booming bat of Nick Kirchschlager, who doubled and drove in three Panther runs. Junior Drew Nichols continued his hot hitting with a 2-for-2 day and fired three scoreless innings in his first appearance on the mound for the Panthers in 2013. Nichols was 10-1 as a sophomore for Manteno in 2012.

Lane Tech 16, Von Steuben 1
Lane Tech (17-8; 13-0) crushed Von Steuben in five innings on Friday behind Indian SS Rudy Vargas who singled doubled scored three runs and drove home three to lead the LT attack. Jake Domsky Walter Nolan-Cohn and Joel Velasquez all plated a pair of runs for the JR-North leaders.

Simeon 7, Washington 1
Simeon (14-4-1; 7-1-1) blasted Washington behind a four-hitter from LHP Rhakeem Thomas. Jamari McKinney had three hits and three RBI to lead the Wolverine attack. Tyler Gordon singled doubled and plated a pair and University of Louisville-bound CF Corey ray hammered a solo-shot for the Wolverines who now lead the JR-South.

Minooka 6, Oswego East 0
Minooka (16-7; 12-3) rolled past Oswego East behind a six-hitter from RHP Trevor Maly. Maly struck out four and walked two. Nick Bell led the Indian attack with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Maly improves to 4-0 with a 1.42 ERA for Minooka

Stevenson 9, Antioch 5
Stevenson (13-6, 6-1 NSC Lake) won its eighth in a row outslugging Antioch 9-5 on Friday. Jimmy Marchese led the patriot attack with two singles and two RBI. Tony Heiser added two singles and an RBI.
