Lockport 7, Homewood-Flossmoor 0
Lockport (14-6; 5-3) blanked H-F as SIU-Edwardsville-bound RHP Evan Martens fired a perfect game at the Vikings. Martens faced 21 Viking hitters, struck out eight of them to keep the Porters in the wild and crazy SWSC-Blue race. Martens’ Heartland Community College-bound batterymate Derek Bangert had a pair of doubles and drove home the only run Martens would need.

Lincoln-Way Central 5, Joliet Central 4
Lincoln-Way Central (12-6; 6-2), with L-W East’s loss to Joliet West, has risen to the top of the SWSC standings. On Tuesday the Knights outlasted the Steelmen in eight exciting innings at Joliet. Knight Jake Reil doubled home the eventual game-winner in the top of the eighth. Ryan Earll had two singles and plated three to lead the Knights attack. Mac Leske chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

Sandburg 11, Bolingbrook 1
Sandburg (13-5; 4-4) scored seven times in the bottom of the seventh to put a stop to the proceedings in Orland Park on Tuesday. Matt Shimonis doubled, homered and drove home for Eagle runs to lead the onslaught on the Raiders. Alec Nelson added a single, two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Eagle RHP Sean Leland fired a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts against Bolingbrook.

Southwest Suburban Red

No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 9, Thornwood 4
Lincoln-Way North (21-0; 8-0) rolled to its 21st consecutive victory on Tuesday behind Creighton-bound Kevin Smith. Smith had two hits, including his third homer of the season while Erik Eggert chipped in with three hits.

Andrew 19, Stagg 2
Andrew (15-7; 7-1) avenged Thursday’s loss to Stagg crushing the Chargers in five innings on Tuesday. The T-Bolts struck for nine runs in the first and never looked back. Kevin Walsh continued his hot hitting with a single double and four RBI. Zach Klockowski homered and plated three t-Bolt runs while Jeff Szubert was 2-for-2 with three RBI. T-Bolt ace LHP Cameron Simak allowed one run and three hits to improve to 6-1 on the mound.

Catholic League Crossover

No. 4 Mount Carmel 13, De La Salle 2
Mount Carmel (21-4; 10-1 Blue) crushed De La Salle (12-10; 8-6 White) in five innings on Monday. Caravan junior Dave Dobrinich (3-0) allowed one run in four innings of relief to pick up the win. Senior CF Jason Gasser was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Joe Kennedy, Jason Wirtel and Greg Ploszaj all went deep for the Caravan. University of Oregon-bound SS Jerry Houston chipped in with two hits and two RBI.

Big 12

No. 5 Normal West 18, Decatur Eisenhower 0
Normal West (18-3; 5-0) went deep four times in the five-inning destruction of Ike. Western Illinois University-bound C Adam McGinnis was 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBI. University of Illinois bound Matthew James homered doubled and plated four while Josh Appel launched round-tripper no.5 of the season and Noah Johnson also went deep for the red-hot ‘Cats. Red-Hot junior Reed Rogers chipped in with three more hits as West won for the 13th straight time.

Nonconference

Bloomington 13, Brimfield 7
Bloomington (18-6; 6-0 Big 12) won for the 12th consecutive time defeating a quality Brimfield (14-5) squad and ace Matt Dwyer (5-1). Super-soph Charlie Cerny led the Purple Raider assault with two hits and four RBI. Seniors Brandon Edwards added three hits and Kent Frantz two. Junior Nick Chapman (2-1) fired three scoreless innings in relief to nail down the win.

No. 12 Harrisburg 7, Pinckneyville 5
Harrisburg (22-3) rolled behind PBR Player of the Year candidate Ryne Roper. Roper improved to 9-0 on the season with eight stellar innings on the mound. Roper hammered his seventh homer of the season for a 2-for-2 day at the plate for University of Illinois recruit.

Ottawa 4, La Salle-Peru 2
Ottawa (17-2; 9-0) slipped past rival L-P again on Tuesday behind the booming bat of University of Illinois-bound Mike Hermosillo. The future Fighting Illini-CF, went deep and doubled to lead the Pirates past the hated Cavaliers. Nick Harsted added two hits two runs scored and two RBI for the Pirates. Pirate RHP Kyle Wallbaum fired a three-hitter at LP with four strikeouts to pick up the win. Hermosillo is now hitting a robust .539 for the Pirates.

Fox Valley Fox

Grayslake Central 3, Crystal Lake Central 2

Jacobs 1, No. 18 Huntley 0
Jacobs (15-6; 7-4) blanked Huntley (17-3; 10-3) behind a two-hit shutout from senior RHP Evan Blunk. Blunk struck out six and walked one. Danny Vandewalker drove home the only run of the game in the second inning. Nebraska-bound RHP Bryce Only (3-3) suffered the defeat for Huntley.

Crystal Lake South 13, Prairie Ridge 2
Crystal Lake South (12-4; 9-4) scored five runs in the first and six more in the second to put this one away early at Prairie Ridge (16-5; 7-5). Gator leadoffman Troy Bittenbender hammered a booming grand slam that was last seen somewhere over Iowa. Bittenbender finished with three hits and five RBI. Gator senior 1B Max Meitzler continued his amazing spring with another bomb a single and four Gator ribbies. Garrett Bright joined the Gator long-ball barrage with a blast of his own and three RBI. Gator ace RHP Tyler Hall (6-1) fired a seven-hitter at the hard-hitting Wolves allowing one earned run to pick up the win.

Cary-Grove 11, McHenry 6
Cary-Grove (14-5; 9-3) rallied past McHenry scoring two runs to tie the game at 4-4 in the fifth and then exploding for five runs in the sixth to put this one in the win column. With the win the Trojans pull within ½ game of Valley leader Huntley. Trojan C Matt Ewert and Zach Marszal continue to crush the baseball with both Trojans having two hits, including a double and three RBI. Brandon McCumber went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored and Jeremy Vasquez added three hits two runs scored and one RBI. McHenry (15-8; 9-3) was led by Cole Hoeppel-Tranter who had a single and two RBI while Payton Lykins added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Warriors.

Central State 8

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 12, Springfield Southeast 2
SHG (15-4; 8-3) slammed Southeast behind Steve Sartore and David Jacob. Both Cyclones had two hits two ribbies. Sartore had a double. Cyclone RHP Connor Etheridge allowed one hit with a dozen strikeouts in his game-winnig six inning performance.

North Suburban Lake

Stevenson 12, Lake Forest 6
Stevenson (11-6; 5-1) scored six times in the top of the seventh to break up a 6-6 tie and stay atop the NSC Lake standings on Tuesday. Zach Novoselsky was 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles, a run scored and four RBI. Mitch Goll had three hits, including two doubles and drove home four Patriot runs.

No. 7 Mundelein 10, Libertyville 0
Mundelein (19-1; 4-1) behind UIC-bound RHP Mitch Schuluwitz’s one-hit shutout put an early end to this NSC Lake showdown scoring five times in the first and second innings to crush the Wildcats in five innings. Schuluwitz (6-0) struck out five and did not walk a batter. Schuluwitz helped himself at the plate with a single and two RBI while Matt Reichert was 3-for-3 with a homered and drove home three for the Mustangs. Red-hot SIU-bound Will Farmer singled homered and drove home two for the NSC-Lake leaders. Libertyville falls to 14-5-1 overall and 3-2 in NSC-Lake play.

North Suburban Prairie

Wauconda 24, North Chicago 0
Wauconda (10-4; 7-0) destroyed North Chicago in five innings on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in the NSC-Prairie. The Bulldogs scored twelve runs in the first inning. Joe Widmer singled homered and drove home five while Brandon Gibis was 2-for-2 with four RBI. RHP Roy Nelson fired a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts against the Warhawks.

Antioch 20; Round Lake 1
Antioch (9-7; 3-1) crushed Round Lake in five innings on Tuesday. The Sequoits put this one away with an 11-run explosion in the third inning. Matt DeJong led the Antioch onslaught with three singles a double four runs scored and five RBI. Adam Harvey tripled, singled and drove home three runs while Sequoit leadoffman Jerry LaSaint was 3-for-3 with four runs scored.

Vernon Hills 6, Grant 5

South Seven

Mount Vernon 5, Carbondale 2
Mount Vernon (22-5; 6-1) won for the 12th straight time, avenging an earlier loss to the Terriers. With the win the Rams take over sole possession of first place in the SSC. Ram junior ace Brock Fulkerson improved to 7-1 with a four-hitter. Red-hot Ram Sawyer Harrison picked up two more hits and picked up two RBI. Collin Young added a double and two RBI for the SSC- leaders.

Peoria Notre Dame 9, Peoria 5

Mid-Suburban East

Elk Grove 5, Prospect 2
Elk Grove (15-5; 6-1) defeated Prospect on Tuesday to pull into a first-place tie with Rolling Meadows (9-9-1;6-1). Nick Zak led the Grenadier attack with a 3-for-3 afternoon with a double and two RBI. Adam O’Malley singled doubled and drove home a Grenadier run. Grenadier RHP Alex Tinkoff fired a six-hitter at the Knights to pick up the win. Elk Grove will host Rolling Meadows on the banks of Salt Creek today at 4:30 in a battle for the top spot in the MSL-East

Mid-Suburban West

Barrington 10, Hoffman Estates 0

Palatine 5, Schaumburg 2
Palatine (10-8-1; 5-2) kept pace with unbeaten Barrington in the MSL-West on Tuesday. Pirate Neal Ori singled and drove home two runs to lead he pirate attack. Anthony Fortunato, Jarred Juskiewicz and Zach Serna all drove home Pirate runs. Juskiewicz doubled. RHP Nolan Gavin went the distance allowing two runs and seven hits to improve to 4-0 on the mound for the Pirates

Southwest Prairie

No. 19 Plainfield South 15, Romeoville 4
Plainfield South (15-3; 10-1) routed Romeoville behind Tyler Butler, who was 3-for-3 falling a triple shy of hitting for the cycle with three runs scored and three RBI. Red-hot Cougar C John McNulty was also 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Rick Salazar was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI. RHP Ryan McQueen picked up the win on the mound for the first-place Cougars.

Minooka 4, Oswego 2
Minooka (13-7; 9-3) slipped past Oswego behind Tyler Desmairais who homered and drove home three Indian runs. Mark Fox drove home the other Indian run. Minooka RHP Mitch Vogrin picked up the win with relief help from Josh Mitchell, who picked up the save.

Plainfield East 3, Plainfield North 2
Plainfield East (6-12; 4-8) defeated crosstown-rival North led by Bengal Devon Rager. Rager had two hits including a huge two-run bomb in the fourth. Mitch Coughlin picked up the win for the Bengals and Bengal closer Tyler Veart fired three scoreless innings to nail down the save.

Interstate 8 North

Lisle 10, Seneca 1
Lisle (12-6-1; 9-2-1) smashed Seneca behind Lion 2B Cliff Krause who had two singles two runs scored and two RBI. C Kevin Coppin chipped in with two hits and two runs scored. Senior LHP Ryan Van Volkenburg allowed a run and five hits with 11 punch-outs in his stellar six innings of work.

Westmont 15, Coal City 13
Westmont (17-4; 8-2) kept pace with Lisle in the I-8 North by outslugging Coal City on Tuesday. Red-hot Sentinel leadoffman Ryan Schlicher also had three hits including a triple scored four runs and drove home two. Westmont sophomore SS Charlie Donovan added three hits including a double scored a run and plated a pair. Donovan is currently ranked No. 1 in the Class of 2015 by the PBR. Danny Dwyer chipped in with two singles and two RBI.

Interstate 8 South

Herscher 9, Reed-Custer 2
Herscher (17-2-2; 9-0-1) crushed Reed-Custer behind Kyle Burton, Braden Muhlstadt and Dalton Sproul all who drove home two Tiger runs. RHP Jeff Klaman allowed four hits and a run in his stellar six-innings of work to pick up the win.

Manteno 3, Peotone 2
Manteno (17-3; 7-3) won in walk-off fashion on Tuesday. Panther Kevin Sloat hammered an opposite field walk-off single to right that led Manteno past archrival Peotone. Lucas Robbins had a single and drove home the other two Panther runs. RHP Adam Schaeffer (2-1) shut down the Blue Devils in the top of the seventh to pick up the win in relief.

Lane Tech 15, Payton 3

Upstate 8 River

Batavia 13, Elgin 0
Batavia (15-3; 11-3) blanked Elgin in five innings to stay atop the U8C. Adam Siegler led the Bulldog attack by plating a pair of Batavia runs.

St. Charles East 7, St. Charles North 0
St. Charles East (13-7; 11-4) blanked its cross-town rival behind a one-hitter from LHP Ben Huskisson. Huskisson also plated a pair of Fighting Saint runs with a single. Senior Joe Hoscheit had three hits scored a run and drove home one as well. Huskisson improves to 2-1 on the season and lowers his ERA to 0.39.

Upstate 8 Valley

Bartlett 15, Waubonsie Valley 6
Bartlett (12-5; 11-5) crushed Waubonsie Valley behind Sam Franco who had three singles a double a run scored and two batted in. Ben Havel doubled twice singled and plated four Hawk runs while Mike Roberson had a single and 3 RBI. Waubonsie Valley (10-7; 8-4) was led by Tyler Hasper and Jake Bennema. Both Warriors went deep with a pair of RBI.

South Elgin 8, Neuqua Valley 1
South Elgin (10-8; 10-5) smashed Neuqua Valley behind Joe Crivolio, who had three hits including a double while Riley Halter added a pair of hits and two RBI. Alex Wolfe chipped in with a double and two RBI. Storm RHP Ryan Nutof allowed one run and six hits to pick up the win. Nutof had nine strikeouts. Neuqua Valley falls to 14-8 overall and 11-6 in the topsy-turvy U8C-Valley.
