Mount Vernon 15, Pinckneyville 2 (5 innings)
Sixteen Rams came to the plate in the top of the fourth inning. Eleven of them scored as Mount Vernon (2-0) went on to crush Pinckneyville 15-2 in five innings on Wednesday. 6-foor-4 junior RHP Brock Fulkerson (1-0) fired a one hitter with eight Ks.

Senior Landon Thomas doubled and homered and drove home three to lead the Ram onslaught. The Rams hit six doubles in their 11-run outburst in the fourth. Senior Matt Williams had one of them among his three hits. Williams plated a pair for MV.

Senior Colten Meador and junior Jake Pike also doubled in the fourth and each had two hits and two RBI.

Jacksonville 19, Macomb 3 (5 innings)
Just what Jacksonville head coach P.J. Moore ordered. The Crimsons exploded for 19 runs and 14 hits as Jacksonville (1-0) blasted Macomb 19-3 in five innings on Wednesday. Kody Wood led the Crimsons’ attack with four hits and a pair of RBI. Floyd Lomolino had a pair of hits and plated three Crimsons’ tallies.

Andrew Jackson had two hits and two RBI and nailed down the save for starting and winning pitcher Dustin Woodcock (1-0), with two scoreless innings of relief. Jackson fanned five of the six Bomber hitters he faced.

Greenville 3, Wood River 0
Greenville (1-0) broke up a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth and a pair of runs in the sixth to roll past Wood River 3-0 in the season-opener for both schools. Comet starting and winning pitcher Brandon Camp (1-0), allowed two hits and struck out three in his four shutout innings of work. Clint Meadows tripled home the only run Camp and the Comets would need in the fourth.

Herrin 11, Pope County 1
Herrin (2-0) crushed Pope County 11-1 at Herrin on Wednesday. The Tigers have put up 23 runs and 19 hits for head coach Keith Warren to open up the 2013 campaign. Pope County (1-1) was led at the plate by senior Kyle Wise who had two hits.
