GRAYSLAKE, IL - Grayslake Central rode a complete game one-run performance from junior right-hander Coby Moe, and a 3-for-3 day at the plate for junior outfielder Antonio Crews, to defeat Antioch 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams struck first in the second inning. A leadoff single by Crews, followed by a walk and a sacrifice bunt by Tony Neuman put runners on second and third one out. Sophomore Marcus Maristella got the job done with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Crews.

Antioch tied the game up in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Patrick Day, one of two hits on the day for him. That would be all the Sequoits could manage of Moe in the inning as the next three batters would go down in order. The deadlock would be short lived though. With a man on second and one out, Crews roped a single, scoring the runner from second to make it 2-1.

The Sequoits had an opportunity in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game and potentially take a lead. Leadoff man John Petty reached base on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch, then Day followed with a single. Grayslake Central allowed Day to take second base on the next batter, placing men on second and third with one out. Coby Moe could not be rattled, keeping his cool under pressure and striking out consecutive batters to end the inning.

Crews added an insurance run for Grayslake Central in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Max Snowden on a double to right center. Moe came out for the seventh and finished off the complete game, allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking none. Crews recorded all three of the Rams hits on the day, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Antioch starting pitcher Colin Wieska tossed five innings, surrendering two hits, two runs, striking out three and walking four in a losing effort. Offensively, Day finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Sophomore Logan Delgado went 1-for-3 with a double.
