Chicago Preseason I.D.: Top Overall Prospects
April 29, 2019
The inaugural Chicago Preseason I.D. was held on Feb. 23 at the Pullman Community Center in Chicago, IL. The event saw 80+ players from the greater Chicagoland area ranging from all HS classes, 19' to 22'.
Shortly following the event we shared an instant analysis from the showcase with our Quick Hits and Stat Story. Throughout the week we’ve broken down each position in-depth and those reports can be found by clicking the positional hyperlink here: C, INF, OF, P. Today we wrap up our post event analysis with the Top Overall prospects. With so much Chicagoland area talent to sift through, it was these names below that managed to stand out at the event.
Emmanuel Scott (St. Ignatius, 2021) now sees his name in back to back Top Overall showcase ranks as the athletic framed catcher was No. 4 at the Underclass Invite a few days prior; Now he headlines the Chicago Preseason ID. A recent Xavier commit, Scott has rhythmic actions behind the plate continuously showing the ability be a backstop moving forward. He swings the bat with intent and line drive production, presently advanced for his classification
Kevin Coe Jr. (Whitney Young) has recently sky-rocketed up our IL 2020 rankings board. The toolsy infielder can swing it from both sides of the plate and control his actions athletically on the move defensively. Coe is a name to keep an eye on as his frame, and projection, continues to improve.
Jaime Sanchez (Niles North) is one of the top unsigned senior catchers in the state, and he showed off his above average defensive toolset at the Chicago ID. Sanchez welds a fast bat with line drive production and should not be on the uncommitted list for long.
That all being said, here is a look at the Top Overall Prospects from the Chicago Preseason ID.
