Capital City Open: Position Player Analysis
November 20, 2017
The Capital City Open, the final Illinois outdoor showcase of 2017, took place at Lincoln Land CC on Monday, October 9th. Today we continue the analysis from the event taking a look at the position players in attendance.
Daniel Chausse (Mt. Zion, 2019) burst onto the scene at the event thanks to his performance on the mound and as a position player. Chausse has a live arm and handles the bat at the plate.
2021 Brady Thomas (Athens) is an infielder to watch moving forward. Thomas has a simple, repeatable swing and makes a lot of hard contact.
Recent Lincoln Land CC commit, Kyle Werries (Chatham-Glenwood), may have taken the best round of batting practice on the day. Werries has present bat speed and a good feel for the barrel.
2019s Jacob Jurgens (Chatham-Glenwood) and Ben Higgins (Macomb) were intriguing bats to follow moving forward as well as a trio of 2020s from Chatham-Glenwood; Sergio Marchizza, Lucas Ryan and Drew Detmers.
