Another top-level Class of 2014 is off the board, as St. Laurence two-way standout Mike Kornacker committed to Purdue University.
Kornacker, a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder, is currently ranked No. 6 in Illinois’ 2014 class and 26th overall. Kornacker was extremely impressive at the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games last August when he showed a heavy 86-88 mph fastball on the mound with the ability to throw three pitches for strikes. He is also one of the better offensive players in the class as well.
Kornacker has been a significant contributor at St. Laurence since his freshman year. In two seasons, he is 8-2 on the mound.
Kornacker is the second 2014 prospect Purdue has landed in Illinois, joining RHP Drew Nichols (Manteno HS). Nine of the top 12 players in the Class of 2014 are now committed.
