4A Consolation Game: Lake Park Claims 3rd At State; Top Sandburg 7-1

JOLIET, IL - In the third game on the docket at Route 66 Stadium, The Lake Park Lancers used a big six-run 3rd inning to top the Sandburg Eagles 7-1. Both teams played a majority of their seniors, which was a storied send off to the perspective teams 2018 class’.
In that six-run 3rd inning, the Lancers collected five hits, two walks and a bases clearing triple headlining the scoring outburst. Anthony Deconcilis (Illinois-Springfield commit) lead off the inning with a double one hopping the left field wall. Rory Marino (Carthage commit), Anthony Baturin (Benedictine commit) and Eric Brown all singled in the frame, while John Deconcilis delivered the big blow clearing the bases with a slide in triple to the left/center gap.
Lancer senior starting pitcher Jay Palmer (Elmhurst commit) finished what he started going six strong innings allowing only three hits, one run/earned run and four walks, while fanning six. Palmer’s battery mate Zach Aehlert (Belmont Abbey commit) lended a helping hand picking off a runner at second and also cutting a runner down trying to steal second.
Lake Park scratched their final run in the bottom of the sixth, scoring a run without a hit in the frame. Freddie March (Elmhurst commit) was hit by a pitch and came around to score three batters later when Marino rolled an RBI groundout to second base.
Sandburg saved the shutout defeat plating a run in the top of the 7th. Tyler Fabis doubled to start the inning and touched home on a RBI fielder’s choice by Mike Levato.
Evan Tenuta (Notre Dame commit) started the game for Sandburg going through the lineup once in a 2.1 innings performance. Seth Masters (Illinois-Springfield commit) took the loss on the mound going 2.2 innings striking out two.
