Prep Baseball Report

Idaho Diamond Notes (April 15-20)

Cam Black-Araujo

Each week, the Prep Baseball Idaho staff asks High School coaches across the State to fill out our Player/Pitcher of the Week questionnaire which helps us in our selection process of honoring the top performances. With all of the talent throughout Idaho, it can be difficult to just pinpoint one pitcher and positional player each week so our 'Diamond Notes' articles will serve the purpose of highlighting some of the top performances that were submitted by coaches.

Keep an eye on our social media accounts throughout the week as each Saturday we will send out the link to the questionnaire with all submissions due at 11:59PM on Sunday.

Below, we'll take a look at some of the top performances across the State over the past week.

IDAHO DIAMOND NOTES: APRIL 15-20

'24 RHP/3B Treyton Swygart (Middleton/Portland): The Portland commit continues to dominate on the mound this part month and once again had a Pitcher of the Week performance if it weren't for a five-inning, 14-strikeout perfect game in the State. The Middleton two-way talent went the distance, a full seven innings against Borah and allowed just one hit, one run (0 ER) and punched out 14 without walking a hitter. Middleton picked up another three wins on the week against Borah, Capital and Centennial to push their overall record to 16-3 (7-0).

'26 OF Taye Lords (Bonneville/Uncommitted): Lords was filling up the box scores this past week as Bonneville picked up four wins with three over Shelley and another against Thunder Ridge. The uncommitted outfielder went 8-for-11 on the week with eight runs scored, four RBI, three walks and a HBP. The Bees put up a staggering 68 runs over the four games and Lords was a major contributor to the offensive outburst. Bonneville is now 8-4 in 4A High Country play while they sit at .500 overall on the season.

'25 RHP Michael Myers (Boise/Uncommitted): Myers took the mound in Boise's matchup against Nampa and worked seven full innings without surrendering an earned run as The Brave claimed a 12-4 victory. Myers racked up 11 punchouts over the seven innings while allowing four runs (0 ER) and four hits while walking two. This was arguably Myers' best performance on the mound so far this year and helped Boise pick up their lone win of the week as they also dropped games to Mountain View and Owyhee

'26 OF/RHP Carson Fine (Homedale/Uncommitted): The underclass two-way out of Homedale was as productive as he could be at the dish this past week as he picked up a hit in every single AB, along with a walk and sacrifice to round his eight plate appearances. Among the six hits was one double, along with four RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Fine has put together back-to-back quality weeks at the dish as he's heating up with the end of the season drawing closer and closer.

'24 3B/RHP Dillon Fine (Homedale/Utah): Dillon Fine took home Pitcher of the Week last week as he broke the program record with 18 punchouts over Parma and this week he provided Homedale with plenty of juice on the mound and at the dish. Fine turned in another potential 'Pitcher of the Week' type performance as he pitched a seven-inning complete-game shutout against Fruitland, allowing just one hit, one walk and struck out 16. In the start, Fine also worked up to 93mph. At the dish, Fine reached base each time he appeared at the dish, going 6-for-6 with a walk and HBP. The Utah commit also added a HR, eight runs scored and a RBI. The Homedale didn't allow a single run in their two wins this week against Fruitland and McCall-Donnelly while offensively putting up 19 and Fine was a big factor in both those numbers.

'25 RHP/SS Jackson Gardner (Sugar Salem/Uncommitted): The Future Games alum and one of Idaho's top uncommitted prospects continues to find himself on this list as he continues to produce on both sides of the ball for Sugar Salem. The Diggers played just one game this week and Gardner worked four innings on the mound allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. At the dish, he 2-for-3 and came through with a big two-run shot in the 5th inning to break open the game as Sugar Salem took home the 5-3 win over Preston. Gardner will be a fun watch on the Diggers team down the stretch with his two-way abilities.

'26 C Cannon Eddie (Highland/Uncommitted): The uncommitted junior put together a strong week at the plate, reaching base at a high-clip while going 7-for-9 as the Rams picked up two wins over Madison and another over Thunder Ridge. Eddie picked up seven hits (all singles), three runs scored and three walks. The underclassmen is putting up some strong numbers this year as he's currently batting .426 with an on-base percentage of .532.

'24 RHP/INF Payton Fine (Homedale/Uncommitted): Fine got the start in Homedale's matchup againt McCall-Donnelly and was dominant as he went the distance for a six-inning complete game shutout in the 11-0 win. The uncommitted senior allowed no runs on two hits, no walks and struck out seven. This was one of Fine's strongest outings of the year as the Trojans remain undefeated in 3A Snake River Valley play, now 7-0.

'26 RHP/SS Nash Randall (Blackfoot/Uncommitted): The uncommitted sophomore took the mound againt Idaho Falls on Thursday and worked a complete-game (five innings) shutout as Broncos won 11-0. Randall racked up ten strikeouts across the five innings while allowing no runs, five hits and two walks. Beyond his work on the mound, Randall also went 4-for-6 at the plate with two runs scored, two RBI and a walk. Blackfoot swept Idaho Falls, winning all three games by a combined score of 37-3.
