The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
LEWIS: Kirkwood CC, St. Ambrose U & Iowa Wesleyan.
PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?
LEWIS: I went on an informational visit on the St Ambrose campus. I'm planning a visit with Kirkwood and Iowa Wesleyan in the near future.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
LEWIS: I am not looking for anything too specific as I have not exactly figured out what I am going to do for academics. I am mostly waiting on the right offer for me to make my decision.
PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?
LEWIS: In high school I hit leadoff with a .333 average and started in centerfield all year for a 4A Conference Champion team. Second on the team in hits and RBIs and had the most triples. This Fall; I also hit leadoff and started in centerfield with a .412 avg. I led the team in hits, doubles, homeruns, RBIs, runs, AVG, SLG, and OBP.
PBR: What are your goals for this year?
LEWIS: To have an even better season than last year and really get my name out there. I will work as hard as necessary for this to happen.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
LEWIS: No
PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?
LEWIS: I have not taken the ACT. My GPA is a 3.5
Scouting Report
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-1, 160-pounds.
Defense: LH OF - 83 mph. Light on his feet and moves well in field, clean arm action, has carry and accuracy to target.
Hit: LHH. Square stance, easy body load, lift in swing plane, shows hard contact to mid/pull side of field with quality extension through contact.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 6.94 runner in the 60.
Pitching:
Delivery: LH. Short rocker step into uptempo athletic delivery, relatively clean arm action, gets out past front leg on release.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Control of zone to arm side with cutting action to glove side for strikes.
CB: 70-73 mph. Avg. command with 2/7 and solid depth.
CH: 75-76 mph. Lacks consistency with feel and action of pitch.
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-0, 150-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Open stance, strides to square, lift in swing plane, simple compact path, creates bat speed, consistent hard contact to mid/pull side of field.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: LH. OF - 83 mph.
Defense: Easier actions, light on his feet, works through ball, compact arm action with short release.
Run: 6.89 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Shows rhythm and tempo, easier actions on mound, lands across body, hitchy front leg to land, avg. extension and finish.
Arm Action: LH. Short compact arm action, OT slot, clean through and out front.
FB: T77, 74-77 mph. Varying action with flashes of late run.
CB: 68-69 mph. Good command of loopy 2/8 breaking ball.
CH: 71-72 mph. Straight, avg. action, lacks feel for zone.
6-foot, 150-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; thin athletic frame, swings into higher balance point, high ¾ slot, occasional stiffness in legs and hips which should improve with strength and development. Fastball was 74-77 mph with flashes of run and sink. Small shape with short break on 1/7 curveball. Changeup shows flashes of above avg. fade and sink in bottom of zone. 4.57 home to first. Square stance, leg kick trigger, spin tendencies with lower half, line drive swing, occasional bat speed, flashes hard mid/pull side contact, 83 mph exit velocity. Long and rangy in field, moves well to field, long arm action, solid carry and accuracy to throws, 79 mph arm strength from outfield.
