PBR IA COMMITMENT SPOTLIGHT

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
BROWN: Coach Parks and the staff create an environment like no other. Southeast Community College continues to move on players to big division 1 programs and pro teams plus have a good reputation. I got to speak with the current players about the process and grind and they all loved the decision so it felt right at home!

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
BROWN: I had interests from SWCC, NIACC, DMACC, IWCC and more. I liked to keep my options open!

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
BROWN: The coaching staff recognized me at an Iowa Western tournament and PBR tournament. I felt the energy right away from coach Parks, He was interested. I wanted an opportunity to give him my respect and see what he had to offer for my baseball career!

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
BROWN: Yes I do feel relieved. It was very tuff reaching out to the other coaches and paying respects for the opportunities and time but that's part of life lessons. I'm continuing to build as a baseball player and teammate.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
BROWN: I had a really good feeling about the campus and the program. I feel god put me in that situation and told me it was the right place for me and my journey.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
BROWN: My family and friends for constant support through the ups and downs. The Iowa Capitals family and my very first pitching coach Darrel Einerston for giving me a chance to play at the highest level possible. I also want to thank the Iowa Sticks program and Jason Pearson for taking me to the next level. The Southeast Polk Rams and Dave Hartman for the development and experiences throughout my high school career so far.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
BROWN: I really did not know what to expect but going through all the visits and phone calls but recapping it's very difficult to pick the right option for you and your happiness.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
BROWN: I plan on earning lots of innings and improving tremendously in my senior year of high school.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
BROWN: My favorite baseball memory ever was pitching at principal park because of the experience and community all showing love and support for the team.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
BROWN: I have competed against a lot of good players in baseball throughout the years but the best player I have ever competed with and against is Aaron Downs.
