PBR: Why did you choose Butler University?
SCHULTZ: I really liked the campus when we visited. Butler has a very good reputation for academics, I really liked the coaches and Indianapolis is cool city with lots to do.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
SCHULTZ: South Dakota State, St. Louis University, Minnesota State and Kirkwood as well as other smaller schools.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
SCHULTZ: Coach Schrage and Coach Norton were following me when they were at SDSU so they continued to follow me when they moved to Butler. They also saw me pitch at the PBR showcase.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
SCHULTZ: Yes, I am relieved that the recruiting is over. I did enjoy getting to meet all the coaches and appreciated their interest in me.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
SCHULTZ: The academics and overall campus at Butler.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
SCHULTZ: My whole family has helped me with my accomplishment. I have always played with my brother who is 2 years older than me and I always tried to be better than him so he pushed me to be better. My dad has always been there for support and he helped me to improve my game whenever possible.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
SCHULTZ: I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I knew that I would get some schools that would show interest in me and that I would have to reach out to others if I was interested in them. I think that my final decision was a tough one, but I am very happy and excited to be attending Butler next year.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
SCHULTZ: I hope I get a chance to play. I need to gain some weight and get stronger, so I am working hard this off-season.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
SCHULTZ: Hitting a walk-off home run during our cancer game my junior year.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
SCHULTZ: Jordan Adell from Kentucky.
