2024 Prep Baseball Iowa Pitcher & Player of the Week: Week 3

Jack Sellnau RHP / 1B / Anamosa High School, IA / 2024

The DMACC commit helped the Blue Raiders to a 7-2, thanks to a gem thrown against West Liberty last week. The senior right-hander went six strong, striking out 12, allowing just two hits and three walks. 

Sellnau has now struck out 34 in 19.2 innings on the year and has a 3-0 record with a 1.42 ERA. 

Tate Slagle SS / RHP / Algona High School, IA / 2025

The Iowa commit had a monster week that included a .684 average (13-for-19), two doubles, two home runs, 12 runs scored and 14 runs driven in. And that was just at the plate. On the mound he threw six no-hit innings, striking out 13 and walking just one. 

Slagle's .583 average is currently tied for 13th in the state. He's drawn 22 walks and struck out just four times. His .718 on-base percentage is seventh. As a pitcher, his .022 batting average against is the third lowest in the state -- he's allowed just two hits in 23.2 innings.
