PITCHER OF THE WEEK | KALEB LAFAVOR

Kaleb LaFavor RHP / 1B / Sioux City Heelan, IA / 2026

In the opening week of the season, Sioux City Heelan's LaFavor finished 2-0 while striking out 25 over 13 innings of work. The sophomore did not allow a earned run in that stretch.

LaFavor is an ultra-projectable prospect whose body screams velocity jump as more meat is added to the frame. That said, one of his outings reportedly featured a 87.6 figure -- almost a mile per hour increase from his Preseason All-State appearance in March.

The 25 strikeouts are currently 5th among pitchers in Class 3A and 3rd highest among all sophomores state-wide.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK | KANOA LIN

KANOA LIN  OF/RHP / Des Moines Roosevelt / 2024

Lin was on fire this past week: 16-for-27 (.640 average) with 3 doubles, a home run, and six stolen bases. He scored 13 runs and drove in another seven.

Through seven games, Lin is hitting .538, 38th highest while his 16 total hits are second in the state.
