Oahu Open ID: Quick Hits

Cam Black-Araujo
West Coast Operations

We had an excellent turnout for our Prep Baseball Hawaii 2024 Oahu Fall Open ID with 73 players registered! We started off the event at Central Oahu Regional Park on Thursday, October 24 where we ran the 60’s using VALD Performance. Position players then moved on to the defensive portion of the event and ended with BP vs Hack Attacks, keeping things consistent and efficient from a BP standpoint.

Pitchers threw bullpens to wrap up the event, but we were cognizant to not have pitchers throw too much as Prep Baseball Hawaii was excited to announce we added optional gameplay for all participants on Saturday and/or Sunday. We had our challenges with weather, but we got our games in. Big mahalos to Moanalua High School for allowing our boys to play a Sunday double-header on their beautiful brand new turf field.

Last week we broke down top statistical performers from the event within our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive articles. Here, we conclude our post-event coverage with this Quick Hits articles, breaking down some of the standouts and underclass players who we need to keep an eye on (in no particular order) out of our Prep Baseball Hawaii 2024 Oahu Fall Open ID:

AJ Wida C / 3B / Punahou, HI / 2028

5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Ranked No. 1 with 1.85 pop-time, ranked No. 1 with 76mph C velo at 15-years-old. Quick bat with 94.6mph exit velocity and 6th in Max Distance at 350 ft. 15-years-old with excellent frame/length and very high ceiling, added to Prep Baseball Hawaii’s 2028 rankings at No. 2 overall.

Tokujiro Wada-Goode C / 1B / President Theodore Roosevelt, HI / 2025

No. 1 in Trackman Exit Velocity (99.7mph), No. 1 in Trackman Max Distance (369ft). Big/strong Right-handed hitting catcher with plus makeup.

Koa Marzo SS / OF / Hilo, HI / 2026

Tooled-out! 91mph from the outfield, 91mph Trackman Exit Velocity, 21mph Blast Hand Speed. Can also run with a lean/wiry frame with plus projection.

Case Cannon SS / C / Kaiser, HI / 2028

Left-handed hitter, plus athlete and physical with zero body fat for a 16-year-old. We already know he’s got plus bat speed and ends up with plus raw power but Case truly impressed trying behind-the-plate for the first time. Wow’d everyone with 1.95 pop-time and 76mph catcher velo with zero game reps. Left-handed hitting catchers are a commodity and Case just reinvented himself and added huge value to his game.

Orion Ramie OF / Kahuku, HI / 2025

6-foot,172-pound plus-athlete. Under-the-radar, right-handed hitting outfielder. Former multi-sport (Kahuku football WR) and Ramie's bloodlines makes him interesting from the get go. 96mph Trackman Exit Velocity, 87mph outfield velo and can run for size. Missed playing baseball last two summers/fall due to injuries. Big upside guy who could end up a strong DI recruit.

Peyton Lum 3B / RHP / Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus, HI / 2027

Strongest infield arm at 86mph with excellent arm-action and quick/loose arm. Showed some of the best actions at SS and did it easy on the dirt. Has some bat speed and just 15-years-old with plenty of room for added strength makes Lum one of the top projection players out of this event. Added to Prep Baseball Hawaii’s rankings at No. 12 overall.
