Maui Open ID: Quick Hits

The Maui Open ID was the first event for Prep Baseball Hawaii on the island of Maui. In this event, Prep Baseball Hawaii partnered with Mike Diaz and his state-of-the-art facility Hitter’s Paradise.
We began the day outside at Maui High School’s field where we ran the 60’s, had our position players do the defensive portion of the event and pitchers threw with TrackMan recording their data. We then drove to Hitter’s Paradise where our staff was already testing our players with Vizual Edge and had the cages set up for our hitting portion of the event.
Because it wasn’t a huge group our Prep Baseball staff had a chance to be more personable with the players and parents. The event went great, efficient/on-schedule and all players enjoyed participating.
The event featured roughly 20 prospects from Maui and last week we broke down all of the top performers within our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive articles. Today, we will conclude our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits article as we provide scouting notes and video on four players who caught our staff's attention at tht event.

Kaden Anderson OF / LHP / Henry Perrine Baldwin, HI / 2026Rankings StateRank: 11 / POS: 2
Anderson was arguably the best athlete of the event, #1 in many categories in this event including: Fastest 60 - 7.09s A number of colleges asked about Anderson after seeing his social media post from this event and many of those colleges have his name circled and are looking forward to seeing him next spring/summer. Out of this even, Anderson debuted on Prep Baseball Hawaii’s 2026 rankings at #11.

Kea Sheldon 2B / SS / Maui, HI / 2027Sheldon had some of the best actions on the dirt, advanced feel and body control for age, soft/sure hands, excellent arm action with loose arm, has all the pieces defensively to give him every chance to be a DI SS and plus value defensively. You can tell the players who call Hitter’s Paradise their home as those players took the best BP’s. Sheldon was one of those guys as his two rounds were two rounds of barrels. I liked the confidence, ability to consistently center the ball and hit the ball where pitched. Coming out of this event, Kea was Prep Baseball Hawaii’s first invite to Prep Baseball’s biggest uncommitted event of the year: 2025 Future Games. Congratulations Kea Sheldon!

Murray Brown LHP / OF / Seabury Hall, HI / 2026Rankings StateRank: 29 / POS: 3
Got some bat speed and feel, another home field advantage hitter as he took one of the better BP sessions, LHP up to 82 with high-spin (2600+), finesse/crafty LHP who can pitch and miss barrels. Defensive versatility as run ‘um down in OF and quality defender at 1B. Arrow going up guy.
