Eye-opening start for Georgia 2 on Friday (7/26) Jackson Nelson cruised through the top of the first on the mound sitting the first three down in order, striking out the side and topping at 80 on the FB. Hudson Stanley starts the first inning with a single up the middle. Team Georgia loaded up the bases following two walks and couldn't find a way to push a runner across, leaving them stranded to close out the first inning scoreless, 0-0.

Jackson Nelson came out firing again in the second inning, sitting down Team Alabama batters in order, surrendering 0 hits. He filled up the strike zone throughout the entire outing, showed poise and command on four pitches. FB ran up to 80, a gradual CV in the mid to low 60’s, a SL in the mid 60’s with feel for spin (~2200 rpm) and a CH in the low 70’s with low spin.

Grant Chaffin led off the bottom of the second with a single into left field showing off a nice opposite field approach. Chaffin is caught stealing a few pitches later and that ends the frame for Team Georgia in the bottom of the second. Nelson Gave up his first hit in the top of the third inning, he wasn’t phased as he got a pop-fly out to end the top of the third, still scoreless, 0-0.

Jackson Bredeson led off the bottom of the third inning with a hard fought walk, stole second a few pitches later, Brody Lutz drew a walk and then both were stranded after an inning-ending double-play. Tripp Swords comes in relief in the top of the fourth and surrenders a pair of singles but comes back to sit down the next three in order. In the top of the fifth, collected a strikeout and a pair of ground balls that ended the frame. Swords helped himself with a line drive into left field through the infield gap but left stranded at third to end the fourth. Solid outing as he fanned three in three innings, gave up 3 hits and 1 ER, Team Alabama takes the lead 1-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, Grant Chaffin comes through with an infield single where he ends up on second with 2 outs. Team Georgia loaded up the bases after two straight walks by Will Dudley & Thomas Davis, and were unable to come through with a run, Team Georgia trails 1-0. In the top of the seventh. Chase Bredickas came in to close out the seventh, he collected weak contact that allowed for Team Alabama to push across two more runs to make the score 3-0. During the bottom of the seventh Team Georgia wasn’t able to get a runner to reach and fall to Team Alabama with a final score of 3-0.
