EMERSON, GA - As the fall baseball season continues and bringing cooer weather, the heat is still on high for the talent and performances from this tournament from four different class divisions. The 2024 LakePoint Fall Invite showcased high talent at an elite level where the top players competed against some of the best talent from the southeast. Pitchers with excellent outings, and position players with hit tools on display, it was an excellent weekend for baseball. With that being said, here's a look at some of the top performers from the state of Georgia from this past weekend.

Jude Matthews, LHP, Lakeside, 2026
Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 185-pound frame. Strong outing from the lefty, displaying good feel for the CV early on, 79-77 with a 12-6 looping break, and topping at 2616 rpm. Collected whiffs on demand and showed deceptive sequences that confused batters. FB had life and natural cut in on RHH with the same arm slot and release as the CV, sneaky speed. Ran up to 86-84 with 2100 rpm. Shoved 4.0 innings of 3 hit, 0 run ball while collecting 8 strikeouts.

Marco Nunez, C/3B, Riverwood, 2025
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame. Smooth movements in the box as the swing was finding the sweet spot with accuracy and displaying a good feel for the inside heater. Produced hits while working deep counts and adjusting with two-strikes. Ditches the load and gains positive forward momentum via weight-shift that pairs nicely with a strong upper-half. Easy upper 90 exit velocities with consistency.

Landon Sheffield, RHP, Dodge County, 2026
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame. Nice work out of the pen from the fastball heavy right-hander. FB was working early collecting swing and misses on demand while running it up to 89.4 and sat consistently at 88-87: bore, 2-seam showed arm-side run that jammed righties with sneaky quickness. Flashed the three pitch mix during warm-ups with a CH at 82 and a CV at 79 but never threw in-game. Going to be a high follower as he continues to grow confident in the other two pitches.

Keegan Warren, C/3B, Harrison, 2028
Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 162-pound frame. Nice swing on display from the freshman as he flashed the hit tool on Friday night (9/13) with a solid three-hit game. He caught himself out-front on an off-speed pitch and managed to drag the bat through the zone and paired with strong wrists, caught one on the sweet spot and drove one down the left-field line for a double. Smoked another ball back up the middle earlier in the game to plate another run. A solid bat as he continues to add size and strength to the frame.

Andrew Waite, C/OF, Norcross, 2028
Uncommitted. 5-foot-0, 105-pound frame. A mature approach from the young freshman as he displayed an aggressive attack-like mentality at the plate. Swung on the first pitch he saw and smacked a hard line-drive to the opposite field. The lefty showed a simple swing with minimal pre-pitch movement and a steady head with no pre-pitch hand movement. Inside-to-out approach with some bat-lag that stays through the zone, also displaying some twitch in the wrists. A high follower with room to fill out and will be even more exciting to watch as he continues to mature and develop.

Diego Becerra, LHP, Sequoyah, 2026
Uncommitted. Was the definition of dominant during his electric start on Sunday. The athletic southpaw at 6-foot, 180-pounds generated whiffs at will as he struck out eleven over four innings of work. Showed a true three pitch mix. Consisting of the FB that sat around 88-90 and topped at 92, the CB sat in the mid 70’s and created depth , the CH was mixed in occasionally in the low 80’s with late-fade. All three pitches induce heavy swing-and-miss. The recent ‘24 future gamer continues to impress on the mound and will be a must know name to watch for his upcoming junior season.

Parker Dastou, SS, Walton, 2025
Mercer Commit. The RHH consistently gets it done at the plate and can flat out hit. A tough out that is rarely overmatched. More of the same showed up on Sunday in the Championship Game of the Fall Invite. As Dastou unloaded on one and sent it sailing over the left-center wall at an exit velocity of 92 and a distance of 357 FT. An athletic SS at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds that gets well-leveraged through the zone with fast hands and loose wrists. Crisp actions in the dirt with present arm-strength.

Matt Luigs, MIF, Holy Innocents, 2025
Brown Commit. The RHH put together a nice day at the plate collecting two extra base hits during the championship game. In the box, the senior exhibits relaxed loose actions with strong wrists and easy bat-speed that perpetually delivers a heavy barrel. Laced one backside for a standup triple and laced another pull-side for a double, as the all-fields approach stands out. A 6.7-runner, and a projectable athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. The obvious athleticism jumps off the page. Luigs continues to impress in all facets of his game.

Xavier Rodriguez, C, Archer, 2029
Uncommitted. The eighth-grader is physically advanced for his age at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, with more to come. The RHH showed off the natural strength by catching one out front and muscling it pull-side down the line, and showed off the wheels for a triple. Can really run for his size, was subbed multiple times to pinch run. Displays a slight bat-wiggle that slows down to deliver a well-leveraged barrel through the zone with quick hands that turn the barrel over in an instant. Ground-up strength. Must know name.

Xavier Byams, 1B/C , Marist, 2025
Uncommitted. The physical senior at 6-foot, 220-pounds gets into it with every swing and produces consistent loud exits. A loud showing on Sunday collecting a knock back up the middle at an exit velocity of 101 MPH. Simple actions in the box, coupled with impressive bat-speed allows the ball to explode off the barrel. Byams is an effortless mover through impact and the power upside is massive. Will be a surprisingly uncommitted name to watch in the spring.

Drake Hughey, MIF/RHP, Calhoun, 2028
Uncommitted. The freshman got it done on both sides of the ball Friday night. Starting on the mound the RHP put together a nice final state line punching out five over four-innings of work. Made batters uncomfortable with the FB/CB mix. The fastball sat 74-76 with arm-side run, and the curveball was shown in the mid 60’s and created depth while inducing swing-and-miss. An athletic frame with a quick/strong arm that should continue to add velocity as he progresses through High School. At the plate, Hughey collected a knock back up the middle. Highlighting a swing with loose wrists that allows the hands to flow freely through the zone to deliver an accurate barrel.

Hayden Alley, SS, Allatoona, 2028
Uncommitted. What a performance the RHH put together on Friday night. Went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI’s. Capped off by a ringing pull-side double. Displayed quick/direct hands to the ball with easy barrel awareness. Understands how to leverage the barrel, that delivers firm contact. An effortless mover through impact to go along with a mature approach at the plate. The obvious hit-tool shined for the freshman all game long.

Truitt Stafford, C/RHP, North Cobb Christian, 2028
Uncommitted. An advanced all-fields approach at the dish showed up time and time again from the freshman on Friday night. The smooth swinging lefty possesses a quiet confidence with a mature understanding of the strike zone. Coupled with excellent barrel accuracy. Resulting in one quality at-bat after another. An athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds with more on the way. Will be a name to watch over the next couple of years.

Caden Brown, OF/RHP, Newton, 2025
Uncommitted. The athletic 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior collected multiple knocks on Sunday. Balanced approach at the plate, with a quiet head and quick hands/strong wrists that deliver the barrel in an instant. Showed the ability to sync-up well. The ground-up strength stood out. Also, came in relief and flashed the upside in the short outing, topping at 88 on the FB with late-life. There is legitimate two-way potential here.

Troy Wilson Jr., OF, Collins Hill, 2025
Uncommitted. An athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 150-pounds, with some sneaky strength to project on. The senior collected multiple knocks on Sunday as the hit-tool is obvious. Shows the ability to sync-up well and find barrels. Easy barrel awareness with plenty of length in the zone, that allows the RHH to spray the ball to all-fields. One of his best traits is the ability to impact the game with his blazing game-changing speed. Runs 6.4-60.

Spears Martin, C, North Cobb Christian, 2025
Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 200-pound frame with versatility. Showed hard contact on each at-bat with solid feel for the pull-side barrel. Hands coiled up high and really worked hard through the zone with ferocity and consistency. Several hard hitting line-drives that burned the left-fielder. A heavy bat to have in the line-up with mid-to-upper 90 exit velocity. Present and physical lower-half that help dominate his point of attack. Generates good carry with back-spin and has pop throughout.
