CHICAGO—Players in the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game gathered at Illinois-Chicago Friday afternoon for a workout in front of dozens of scouts while the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels did practice runs up and down the Lake Michigan shoreline. The workout was relatively brief, starting with the defensive portion and then batting practice. Overall, it was a rather pedestrian day, especially after hearing some players put on a huge power display Thursday night in the preliminary rounds of the home run derby. Here are a few highlights from the afternoon…
+ The catchers started off the defensive workout, which means we didn’t have to wait long to see C Cooper Johnson (Carmel Catholic HS, IL) do his thing—firing missiles down to second base. The Mississippi recruit has a quick exchange and rocket for an arm, consistently recording pop times under 1.9 seconds.
