Uncommitted Spotlight: SS Kareh Valentin
March 20, 2020
Today's spotlight is SS Kareh Valentin (Citadels, 2021). Valentin really caught our eye over the summer when he was showcasing a dynamic tool set on both the offensive and defensive side of things at LakePoint Sports for the Georgia Roadrunners. Valentin is a savvy infielder who has instinctive first step and natural abilities at shortstop. What really blew us away was this winter at Preseason All-State when showed off a 91 mph arm. Offensively, he is an athletic hitter who can swing it with lean strength. Valentin has the ability to elevate and drive the ball to all fields while also taking a line drive approach and squaring the it back up the middle.

Scouting Report
9/18/19 - Valentin has been one of my favorite prospects since the summer. A two-player that is a savvy ball player. You can tell he loves the game, and could play all day everyday. Smooth hands a shortstop with an effortless arm action to first. Quick hands on transfers, along with fast feet. At the plate he is a threat to bunt, or to base hit a team to death. Once he is on base he is ready to steal or delay at anytime. His velo on the mound is up 2-3mph since May. He was 82-83, and this weekend he was up to 86, and sat around 83-84. Shows he is working hard on developing as a ball player.
6/01/19 - Shorter frame, high athleticism with great footwork and active hands. Smooth funnel and compact throwing motion. Likes to use his plus speed to drag bunt for base hits, but features a compact inside out swing. On the mound, he has a simple ¾ delivery with his fastball sitting in the low 80’s, touching 83. Sparingly threw a slider with great glove side movement around 71.

Ranges well to both sides, quick transfer, soft hands. plays well on the move and showed ability to throw from multiple arm angles with carry across the diamond. Wiry-thin frame, lacks physicality now. Offensively, shows bat speed, balance and direct path to the baseball. Gets out of the box well and can run.
