Uncommitted Spotlight: 3B/C Connor Nelson

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Starting today, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted prospects to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level.

Today, our spotlight centers around 3B/C Connor Nelson (Charlton County, 2021). Hailing from one of the most southern parts of the state, Nelson has long been known by PBR Florida Executive Director Doug Freeman and the rest of our PBR Florida staff. Nelson has attended numerous events in the Sunshine State, including the prestigious PBR Florida Preseason All-State. A right-handed hitter, he has impressed with explosive bat speed and pull-side power. Defensively, Nelson is listed as a primary third base, but has shown the ability to be able to be a solid backstop as well, positing pop times as low as 1.97. Before the season was suspended, in 14 games and 54 at-bats, Nelson was hitting .429 with a .547 OBP, .786 SLG, 23 RBI and 2 HRs. He is also carries a 3.85 GPA in the classroom.
