PBR Georgia Player of the Week: RHP Chandler Kendall

Fannin County is off to a strong start this spring (8-2), and the 3A program’s ace Chandler Kendall has had a lot to do with it. PBR Georgia scouting staff was at LakePoint last week for the Rebels’ game with Calhoun, where Kendall dominated the Yellowjackets. The uncommitted senior righty held Calhoun to just one unearned run on two hits, one walk, and he struck out a staggering 17 of the 21 outs he recorded – in 105 pitches. He also took his usual spot in the order, hitting in the three-hole, and stepped on home plate as many times as the entire Calhoun did.

The Fannin ace handed the Yellowjackets their first loss of 2019 in the process, a team that scored eight runs in a win over then-ranked Allatoona team earlier this spring.

Weather prevented the Rebels from playing a game between Wednesday and yesterday, which allowed Kendall to sufficiently rest up and take the mound in last night’s contest with Lumpkin County. Once again, Kendall helped lift his team to another win.

He pitched over an unearned run allowed in the first inning and prevented Lumpkin from scoring again until the sixth, allowing Fannin to score seven runs to take a commanding six-run lead. Kendall wound up allowing just two runs (one earned) on five hits, no walks, and he struck out another six batters in 5.2 innings.

In less than seven days, Kendall pitched 12.2 innings and struck out 23 batters in two big wins for Fannin County, and allowed just one earned run over that stretch on seven hits and one walk combined. Electrifying stuff for a prospect still on the market heading into the middle of his final season on a prep mound.

Fannin County’s No. 1 is the latest PBR Georgia Player of the Week recipient.
