PBR Georgia Player of the Week: INF/RHP Brooks Gorman

The reigning class 1A private school champs, Tattnall Square Academy, are off to an incredible 15-0 start to their 2019 spring, well on their way to affording themselves the chance to personally defend their 1A title in the state tournament.

A fixture on last year’s team, as just a sophomore then, was Brooks Gorman. He gutted through some clutch performances along Tattnall’s path to the 1A private title in 2018 and has clearly taken some developmental strides in his junior season and last week’s performances are a testament to that claim.

The Trojans won all five of their games last week and Gorman was integral to the perfect week, as he has been all spring. He combined to 10 innings total, against Wilkinson County on March 12 and again against Trinity Christian four days later. In those 10 frames, Gorman prevented his opposition from scoring a single run and allowed just four hits, four walks, and he struck out a whopping 21 batters across that span.

As if that wasn’t enough, he was essential for Tattnall at the plate, too. Last week, he was combined 9-for-13 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He also drove in 10 Trojan runs and touched home 10 times on his own.

Gorman’s numbers on the season are as staggering as you might expect. The uncommitted junior is hitting .541 this spring, with four homers and 22 RBIs, and is reaching base at a .654 clip. On the mound, he’s 7-0 and has allowed four earned runs in his 37 innings pitched – good for an ERA of 0.76. He’s allowed just 19 hits and 10 walks in 2019 and has punched out 57 batters.

As electric as Gorman has been this spring, his even more impressive three-game stint last week helps the Tattnall star earn our latest PBR Georgia Player of the Week honor.
