PBR Georgia hosted the first ever Macon Open at Mercer University in Macon, Ga on June 29th. The first time event was open to all high school aged prospects in the state and featured nearly 30 uncommitted 2023-2026s. Prospects participated in a pro-style workout and bullpens in front of our scouting staff.

In the days that followed the event, we produced post-event analysis that included a look at the traditional stats measured within our Statistical Analysis piece.

We began our post-event process last week by rolling out the individual scouting reports of the day, starting with the catcher,  infielder, and outfielder positions. Today, we move onto the pitchers. We will wrap up our post event coverage with a listing of the top overall prospects tomorrow.

Top Pitcher Prospects

William Edwards, Perry (GA), 2023
Positional Profile: LHP/1B Very unique arm with good feel for both edges who has real potential to take off in college. Prototype size, arm speed and athleticism stand out.
Body: 6-4, 205-pounds.
Delivery: Funky delivery with big jump to plate in stride, able to keep backside connection and creates lots of momentum. Good lower half direction. Ease of operation present. Finishes well.
Arm Action: LH. Ultra deceptive two piece arm action with stab and wrap. H3/4. Doesn't impact arm speed or life. Solid extension.
FB: T86.6, 85.6-86.5 mph. Very steep plane that's tough to track for hitters. Unique angle adds late tail. Strikes. T1959, 1778 average rpm.
CB: 67.1-69.6 mph. Gradual 2 plane depth, tight rotation. Can throw for strikes & K's.  T2221, 2088 average rpm.
CH: 76.5-78.5 mph. Gradual fade. Can start middle and get hitters to chase arm side.  T1943, 1879 average rpm.

Cole Shuman, Portal (GA), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Talented arm.
Body: 6-3, 180-pounds. Long, lanky frame, projectable, lots of room to fill out.
Delivery: Fast paced delivery with forward lean that causes arm to rush to catch up. Would jump in velo if upper half can stay over rubber as he strides.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, big arm swing that gains proper gradual momentum with present arm speed. 3/4 slot.
FB: T82.9, 80.8-82.5 mph. Unique angle, steep plane w/ late sink.  T2229, 2151 average rpm.
CB: 68.0-69.5 mph. Sweeper with tight rotation and late bite. T2698, 2465 average rpm.
CH: 75.5-77.0 mph. some heaviness.  T1837, 1776 average rpm.

Positional Profile: OF/SS
Body: 6-0, 158-pounds. Lean frame, high-waisted.
Delivery: Consistent tempo, works downhill well, solid extension.
Arm Action: RH. Deceptive short circle arm action, repeats OH slot.
FB: T75.8, 72.6-75.8 mph. Running life, nice feel arm side. T2028, 1784 average rpm.

Delivery: Repeatable delivery, stretch only, medium tempo with slight crossfire. Hips roll downhill naturally, solid direction and timing.
Arm Action: LH. Minimal depth. Smooth, wide arm swing he repeats easily from low 3/4 slot.
FB: T81.4, 78.1-81.0 mph. gradual tail, lots of feel arm side. T2191, 2037 average rpm.
CB: 65.4-68.1 mph. sweeper with depth and consistent shape. Locates well arm side.  T2491, 2382 average rpm.

Body: 6-0, 147-pounds. Average sized frame, high waist.
Delivery: Easy paced, non manufactured delivery. Low effort after landing with solid balance.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, short circle arm action he repeats well from the low 3/4 slot.
FB: T79.4, 77.7-79.3 mph. sinker with occasional run.  T2000, 1895 average rpm.

Arm Action: RH. Long arm action to an over-the-top slot, releases the ball deep over the rubber.

Jack Powell, Denmark (GA), 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/SS Power potential.
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Long frame, young with lots of development ahead.
Delivery: Smooth, well paced delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Big, mid depth arm swing he repeats well. Low 3/4.
FB: T73.5, 71.2-73.2 mph. Late, natural cut with nice feel glove side.  T2126, 2037 average rpm.

Austin Robinson, South Paulding (GA), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/RHP One of the top uncommitted prospects in the '23 class, loud tools across the board.
Body: 6-4, 201-pounds. Projectable, long, lanky, athletic, broad shoulders, lots of room to fill out, quick twitch.
Delivery: Raw delivery, smooth thru up, down, and out phases. Strong on lower half, solid extension.
Arm Action: RH. Smooth medium circle AA, gradually builds momentum. 3/4 slot.
FB: T83.3, 77.6-83.3 mph. Consistent carry up in zone. Attacks.  T2292, 2116 average rpm.
CB: 66.2-71.0 mph. sharp two plane with consistent vertical shape.  T2025, 1934 average rpm.

Arm Action: LH. Deceptive short circle AA (OH) gets on top of FB well. More extension would be nice adjustment.

CB: 62.1-64.5 mph. some sweep, elbow gets low which impacts ability to create down tilt.  T2171, 2121 average rpm.
SL: 61.5-65.1 mph. gradual cut. T2242, 2117 average rpm.
CH: 67.4-70.1 mph. Some fade, low elbow takes away depth.  T1941, 1800 average rpm.
