Georgia Senior Games: Quick Hits

On Saturday, September 2nd, the PBR Georgia staff hosted the Georgia Senior Games at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia. This event was host to nearly 100 prospects and provided our staff an in-depth look at some of the top uncommitted players in the state.

Quick hits

Eli Hanna, RHP/1B, Greater Atlanta Christian - Physical 6-foot-3, 190 pound two-way. Barrel after barrel in bp with exit velos touching 101 mph. Jumped on the mound in game running the fastball up to 85 mph.

Talan Shirey, MIF, Darlington - Athletic middle infielder really impressed over the weekend. Switch hitter with bat speed from both sides (70-77 mph). Stays in rhythm at the plate, gap to gap hitter with ability to drive the ball from both sides of the plate. 6.68 runner in the 60, speed plays in-game with aggressive base-running and range defensively. Reached up to 80 mph across the INF. 

Tommy Dowd, RHP, Cambridge - 6-foot-4, 175 pound right hander impressed during gameplay. Tough low ¾ slot, fastball ran in on right handers. Sat 86-87 and missed barrels. Sweeping slider showed flashes.

Foster Currie, OF/RHP, Sprayberry - Two-way showed well on both sides of the field. Offensively was on the barrel consIstently throughout bp. Flashed power potential, especially to the pull side with bat speed. On the mound was up to 85 mph with sink.

Landon Tankersly, RHP, Houston County - Athletic right hander showed ability to spin on the mound. Clean, loose arm action up to 84 with his fastball, but the curveball might be his best pitch. Sharp downer action on the CB touching 2695 rpm. Got plenty of swings and misses with the curve. A true go-to pitch for Tankersly.

Griffin Hedrick, C, Lakeside - Physical body at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Led the event in catcher velo at 80 mph. Offensively, showed power potential with quick hands. Works an uphill path and stays on plane through his swing.

Ajay Jones, OF, North Hall - Athletic outfielder with easy actions all over the field. Quick, loose hands at the plate. Consistent line drive hitter in bp and in game. Gamer with the tools to pair. 6.7 runner.

Sawyer Wilson, RHP, Cartersville HS - 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with a projectable build. The right-hander filled up the zone in-game, attacking the zone with his sinking fastball at 84-86 mph. Showed confidence in a 68-70 mph breaking ball that he could throw in any count. 

Austin Nipper, C, Brantley County - Physical catcher took one of the best bp rounds of the day. Consistently found the barrel with exit velos up to 97.6 mph. Mature approach in the box looking to do damage. Quick actions behind the plate with pop times of 1.94-1.96.

CJ Lovett, MIF, Blessed Trinity - Middle infielder showcased a sweet left-handed swing. Hands are loose creating leverage in his swing. Able to lift the ball with ease. Low effort bat speed.

Benen Fernandez, 1B, Islands - Big, imposing frame at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. Lots of power potential in the bat. Loud contact on each swing. Able to impact the whole field with high exit velocity.

Virgil Heath, 3B/RHP, Brookwood - Uber physical frame at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. Lots of upside in the bat. Ball jumps off the barrel with ease. Ability to launch on contact with juice to all fields.

Carter Cocks, 3B, Norcross - Long, lanky frame at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. Quiet, ready setup, level path. Line drive hitter stayed consistent during bp. In game, was more of the same. Found multiple barrels hitting hard line drives. Bat plays well.

David Kile, SS/3B, Terrell Academy - Listed at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, athletic with lean strength attached. Initially stood out thanks to his loud round of BP, displaying hard and elevated contact to his pull-side, including a homerun (T94.1 max EV; T358’ max distance). The right-handed hitter has a fluid rhythm and comfortable appearance in the box, working with a simple/short load that transitions into a flat path, staying through the zone. He put up some impressive BLAST metrics as well, averaging 24.7 mph for his hand-speed (T28.4 mph) and 78.8 mph for his average bat-speed (T86.1 mph). 

Sean O’Brien, 3B, North Paulding HS - Strong, compact 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame, still has some room to add on strength as he matures. Performed well both in BP and in-game. Athletic, loose right-handed stroke, uses the whole field with a line-drive approach, reaching up to 91.4 for his max EV. Took competitive at-bats during gameplay, specifically when he took an 0-2 pitch the other way for a triple. 

Zach Pharr, CIF, Villa Rica HS - 6-foot, 175-pound frame, lean strength with room to fill out physically. The right-handed hitter showed a loose/whippy barrel that kept the ball on a line to the whole field, reaching up to 90.5 for his max EV. 

Logan Kimberl, MIF, Greater Atlanta Christian - Compact 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame, athletic and lean build. 6.83 runner in the 60, appears to pair his speed with his approach at the plate. The left-handed hitter has a quick/loose swing, working the middle of the field and keeping the ball on a line and on the ground. Simple toe-tap load, showed the ability to repeat his swing while averaging 86.5% for his on-plane efficiency according to BLAST. 

John Dickerson, 3B/SS, Lassiter HS - 6-foot, 165-pound frame with room to add on strength. Switch-hitter, athletic stroke from both sides, creating hand-separation before firing through the zone, routinely putting the ball on a line. Also displayed an above-average arm across the diamond, reaching up to 84 mph. 

Ben Bodoh, C, Lassiter HS - Compact, 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame, strong build with round shoulders. Had a strong all-around showing on Saturday, starting with his round of BP. The right-handed hitter has a simple and loose swing, working with a short/quick toe-tap load into a direct path. Swings with controlled aggression and was routinely on the barrel, reaching up to 90.2 mph for his max EX and averaging 71.6 mph for his bat-speed. Defensively, Bodoh reached as low as 1.95 for his pop-time, topping out at 77 mph from the chute. 6.92 runner in the 60-yard dash. 

Dozier Swain, OF/RHP, Terrell Academy - Physically developed at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds, lean strength with room to add on more muscle as he matures. Showed some of the loudest all-around tools in the entire event. The right-handed hitter has an athletic stroke, utilizing a toe-tap load that transitions into a loose/flat path, reaching up to 102.7 mph for his max EV while averaging 89 mph with a 370’ max distance. He also averaged 78.3 mph for his bat-speed (T86.5 mph) according to BLAST. Swain showed a well above-average arm from the outfield, reaching up to 89 mph from a crow hop. His arm-strength easily translates over to the mound, as he topped out at 87 mph with spin rates between 2100-2300 RPM. His breaking ball has wipeout potential, spinning between 2300-2600 RPM at 70-73 mph. Also an above-average runner, cruising to a 7.00 in the 60-yard dash. 

Coy Argo, OF, Commerce HS - 5-foot-11 185-pound frame, developed lower-half. Currently ranked No. 210 in the state. The right-handed hitter took a polished round of BP, spraying line-drives to the whole field with clear feel to hit and barrel control. Easy, minimal effort swing that repeats, staying on the ‘sweet spot’ 100% of the time according to TrackMan. 6.98 runner in the 60-yard dash. 

Preston Wright, OF/SS, Stockbridge HS - Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame with room to add strength. Switch-hitter, appeared more comfortable from the left side, smooth rhythm with a feel to hit, worked line-drives up the middle of the field. Controlled toe-tap load, stays short to the ball with body control through contact. Well above-average athlete, cruising to a 6.73 in the 60-yard dash. 

Lucas Hurd, RHP, Lakeside HS - Compact, 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame, round shoulders with strength throughout. Hurd impressed on both sides of the ball on Saturday, starting with his round of BP where the right-handed hitter worked line-drives to the gaps with authority, reaching up to 91.6 mph for his max EV with a 332’ max distance. Hurd later hopped on the mound during gameplay and impressed with a fastball up to 85 mph, cruising in the low-80s with some carry through the zone. He spun a 10/4 slider at 75-77 mph (2200-2300+ RPM) which missed barrels. Also flashed a fading changeup at 76-78 mph. 

Tyler Walling, C/1B, Wayne County HS - 6-foot, 210-pound frame with wide shoulders and some strength throughout. The right-handed hitter showcased some well above-average bat-strength, reaching up to 95.4 mph for his max exit velocity in BP and also leaving the yard in gameplay, sending the ball out to his pull-side on a line. 

Juniel Rodriguez, INF, Dacula HS - 6-foot-1, 192-pound frame. The right-handed hitter impressed throughout gameplay with an easy and loose stroke, staying flat through the zone and recording an RBI single. Comfortable appearance in the box. 

Sebastian Haggard, RHP, Ringgold HS - Pennsylvania commit. 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, athletic and lean with room to add on strength. Impressed with a quality four-pitch mix, starting with a cutting fastball in the 86-88 mph range with an average IVB of 19.2 (T21.2). Showed a knack to spin the breaking ball, going to a curveball at 73-76 mph with sharp 11/5 action (2300-2400 RPM) and 10/4 slider at 76-77 mph. Flashed a fading changeup in warmups with fastball arm-speed, 83 mph. 

Cliff Wysinger, OF, Eagles Landing HS - 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame, lean strength with room to fill out. Currently ranked No. 227 in the state. Showed well during game-play with a gritty approach, fighting deep into counts. Twitchy with an athletic right-handed swing, reaching up to 92.1 mph for his max EV. 6.62 runner in the 60-yard dash. 

Landon Estes, RHP, North Paulding HS - 5-foot-9, 195-pounds. The right-hander worked his fastball up to 84.6 mph, sitting in the low-80s with carry (17-22.2 IVB), also reaching over 2,300 RPM at times. Went to a sharp 10/4 breaking ball at 70-72 mph (2000-2400 RPM) to miss barrels. He also flashed a straight changeup at 75 mph. 

Brycen Horne, RHP, Mary Persons HS - 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame, lean and projectable build. Impressed in-game with a fastball up to 89 mph, sitting between 85-87 mph with carry and life (T21.1 IVB). Breaking ball played with slurvy action at 73-74 mph. He also flashed a fading changeup at 78 mph to fill out his arsenal.
